5G gets speed of 1Tbps

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31622297
damn.....

The tests were carried out at the University of Surrey in england. Only ran across a distance of 100m.

The regulator said it expected 5G mobile to be capable of delivering between 10 and 50Gbps

Some people have had 4G or even 3G internet faster than their home internet, however using this as your home connection for gaming is a huge no no due to the latency however they are currently working on ways of reducing the latency making mobile tethering or hotspots viable option for gaming.

Well it's cool, however I doubt we'll see it for a while, I mean I don't even have 4G coverage where I am at the moment.

I already get ~110mbps on 4G, so why not?

No need to hang yourself, just move to somewhere where there's civilization.

Phone over 4G :

No money... My only other option has DSL and fiber but ZERO plans of bringing it on my road... :/

While I doubt we'll get the 10Gb type stuff,  Governments in the UK and Australia are already factoring this tech into their 5 year plans. It's part of the balancing act between laying fiber or looking to wireless for more adaptive coverage.

is our phones flash memory even capable of handling 125GBps (1Tbps) ?? If not then its pointless!

You guys know it isn't 50gbps just to one user right? If there is 50 people connected then that means 1gbps for each person (theoretically) so if there are more than 50 users that will go down even more lol

Also on my adsl line i get 30 - 35 ping and on my 4G is 28 ping so i don't think latency is really an issue when its better than my fixed line lol

So now we can spend our entire month's bandwidth limit in a second.

Took me about half an hour at 4g speeds when I had a cheap 300MB plan.

No, the fastest SSD isn't even close to that. This is just a proof of concept, its not like it is going to be available anytime soon.

Aren't getting closer to microwave now? Isn't that harmful? Just wondering.

Microwave is everything between 300mhz and 300ghz. Pretty much everything you know of that is wireless is microwave.

It is also all non-ionizing radiation, basically all it does is heat your body up. If you are around too much for too long it could actually cook you, but it would take a CRAP TON of RF energy to do so. For perspective, I promise there is never going to be a situation in your life where RF would even raise your body temp one degree, let alone cook you.
