Acer unveils 2560*1440 display with 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync

ahhming

Awesome. Lets get a g-sync free-sync price war going, that'd be nice.

This isnt really even a war since implementing FreeSync will cost nothing extra, as to for Gsync it is about 100 extra for the module. Freesync will alwaysbe cheaper.

Why would you want to?

To limit maximum FPS to 90.

Diminishing returns is in full effect at that point, and there's no reason to work the GPU harder than it needs to.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

odd that it doesn't have an IPS panel like the G-Sync model.

Its £429 (Pre-Order) in the UK so approx $660 in the US. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-078-AC&groupid=17&catid=948

and due on the 27/03/15

I dont like the Orange colour either....its putting me off it TBH. I would'nt mind if it was red too much, but I would prefer it if they offered it in a range of colours. At least offer an alternative to something that looks like its rusting away on your desktop. :P

Black or Chrome would be good IMHO

There are a lot of good gaming monitors coming out in the next few months and I still have my hopes pinned on the BenQ XL2730Z.

Kind Regards Always

I've been holding off on getting a new monitor because of Freesync, but this one still doesn't do it for me.  I'll wait for a good 4k model.

That's going to be a while. DP1.3 will only allow for 120hz 4k, and we've had 144hz support for 1440p for a while and it took a while for 144hz 1440p monitors to come out.

I don't think that's a problem, if someone has all that money to spend on a monitor probably has a decent gpu to take advantage of freesync.

That lady on the picture looks like she's pulling her shorts out of her butt.. lol.

I like the monitor but i don't really like the color. Maybe if it was blue or black i would like it better. But it's not like i have money to buy one. My monitor isn't even 1080p.

My profile pic is the game i'm currently playing. I hope i remember to change it..

I agree that I am very much looking forward to this technology however I am much more looking forward to the day when I can have a 144HZ panel with IPS color accuracy. I have the Asus vh248 and ABSOLUTELY LOVE the smoothness but find myself craving and desiring the color accuracy of the ips panels I use at my work center. There have been reports recently of monitors with a hybrid screen between the two and I personally want to try it out to see the results and hope that it's better than the panel I have.

Hope it underclocks to 90 hz without affecting the sync part of it.

Why would you underclock it?

90 FPS is a sweetspot, simple.

Looks like a great monitor for me.

I don't mind TN personally and hopefully that will considerably bring down the price of the monitor within my budget. An amazing 144hz freensync TN panel for cheap is definitely on my buy list.

That red is ugly though..

A proper 1440p? Freesynch to boot? I might just get it, I think a single 290x can drive 1440p except in Skyrim with mods
