Leaked Windows 10 Screenshots Show New Xbox Integration

XTankSlayerX

large.jpg

A very early Windows 10 Technical Preview has rolled out to a very limited number of people for testing, as is always the way with new Microsoft operating systems. However, there's a new app included with this edition that might turn a few heads.
The latest release features a new Xbox app, which allows you to browse the Xbox Games Store (and purchase games, we assume!) as well as access your Xbox Live messages, activity feed, and do a little bit of profile customisation, all from your Windows PC. It appears to be much the same as SmartGlass is for tablets and smartphones, but one nice little feature we noticed revolves around notifications.
In this very early edition, you can choose to be notified on your PC when you get new Xbox Live messages, when your favourite friends appear online, and when your favourite friends start broadcasting gameplay. It might not be a bonus to everybody, but for those of us who head back to the PC to quickly clear up a few emails before their friends turn up for an online game session, it could prove to be very useful. Also, the store integration means that you won't need to fire up your browser to take advantage of any game deals when they appear when you're at your PC. Again, a lot of people won't find this to be an annoyance anyway, but we'd bet that the Xbox app will become the go-to way of browsing the store when using a PC - especially given the sometimes frustrating limitations of the online store at Xbox.com.

Fuck XBOX. All most of us care about is just plain Windows 10. No store, no XBOX, nothing. just bare, clean Windows. Windows Vista set the bar high in terms of cleanliness.

I for one actually like this, so to say "we" is pretty broad.

I do not own an Xbone, but this is great news for anyone who does. What it looks like (to me at least) is the first steps towards a Microsoft gaming ecosystem.

I do as well, this could mean that PC Gamers would be able to enjoy what the Xbox plays already do.

Yes, I wish Microsoft would abandon Xbox too, I don't wanna see it (except XBOX music, which was good whilst it was free) in Windows, it puts me off

I only really care if I can play halo on pc. If not, this seems like bloatware.

Or Forza Horizon. Games should really be ported to PC first, but the fucking gaming industry don't give 2 fucks about the PC gamers.

i knew with a title like that some people were going to freak out, calm down guys that app is just a companion, that show friends, achievements and stats of your games, its almost the same thing as the mobile app, and since its a modern app, uninstalling its literally one click

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

Now if only they would get their heads out of their asses, and make it so you can switch to PC gaming and transfer your xbox live account fully to the PC. Games and saves included.

I think this might be the first step to eliminating Xbox as a whole and Microsoft making Windows its default gaming platform.

You can probably uninstall this app from Windows anyways, but this seems (right now) like that crappy WildTagent bloatware that comes on SO MANY pre-built computers these days.  But if Microsoft is serious about this, it could mean PC could be getting a whole lot more attention and exclusives, but it could also mean Steam starts becoming obsolete, leaving the Microsoft gaming store which is probably going to be terrible.

Saying that though, this might eliminate other clients such as EA Origin, Ubisoft Ubiplay.

What's wrong with WildTangent? It's not crapware, it's perfectly fine.

WildTangent is more bloatware than crapware; it works but in reality I would have never used nor downloaded it. It just takes up space.

WildTagent to me and all my friends is bloatware.  So I think the real question is, whats good about WildTagent?

Because you saying WildTagent is fine, is like saying that DVD-trial software that comes on allot of computers is fine.   While it is techinically fine, theres nothing "wrong" with it, its like a weed  because its software that you (maybe) have no desire in using and its taking up disk space, running a process on every startup just bogging things down.  Wildtagent is simillar.

And to you it might be perfectly fine, and thats ok.  Its just like DVD-trial software, maybe some people actually want to buy that software and use it.  and to them it would be "perfectly fine" too.

i wouldn't mind steam having some real competition, steam does some things great but on others is a bitch, first their support sucks balls, origin does a better job at it (even though compared to support in general is also bad) and it has a legit refund option if you don't like a game

then again we are talking about microsoft, they don't have a good record when it come to post purchase support

Yo check out this app. This is where you can look at messages and achievements on games we paid third party developers to keep off PC. Maybe we will let the game stream to your PC (ass backwards) at 720 or 900P! How cool would that be!

I have a better idea MS. How about you stop paying third party devs to keep or delay games off the PC, and homegrow your own titles and studios that would make a PC Gamer actually consider your console. Paying to delay Tomb Raider off PC just makes us want to give you the middle finger, not buy an Xbox. You have the money to create AWESOME game studios and AWESOME first party games. Do it.

Also if this IS a hint at something to come as others keep implying? I am not going to pay a subscription fee to play games you paid to keep off my platform. You tried a subscription before on the PC with Games for Windows Live and it failed miserably.

Go home MS you are drunk. Nintendo could do a stream service or a sub fee cus they make their own games. Sony probably couldn't even do this because they don't have enough titles, but they at least have enough HOME GROWN titles to make us consider buying their console. MS? You have one title. Forza. Everything else is a money hat.

CPU:24/7-4770k @ 4.5ghz/4.0 cache @ 1.22V override, 1.776 VCCIN. MB: Z87-G41 PC Mate. Cooling: Hyper 212 evo push/pull. Ram: Gskill Ares 1600 CL9 @ 2133 1.56v 10-12-10-31-T1 150 TRFC. reasons this is good.

letting your player base communicate when there not on a console.

reasons this is bad.

xbox store prices are terrible.

This gives the worrying idea that your idea of support pc gamers is by giving them more ways to buy xbox shit

This better not be the new Games for Windows thing that they had. Unless we can do stream to xbox, share games across platforms, play coop across platforms. If it doesn't have at least one of those, then I'm not really interested.

I strongly believe that it will stop at buying XBox Games, checking your stats, seeing who is online, and MAYBE chat with friends.

It will allow PC users to see which friends is online on XBox and can turn on their XBox One and join in.

I mean it would be cool if you could stream your XBox One games to PC, like it you can play your XBox anywhere in the house, like the WiiU, or Nvidia Sheild type of system, but I doubt so.
