Apple replaces the "Free" purchase button with "GET"

Apple has replaced the wording of apps that do not require money to download the base app. Previously said apps were labeled as "Free" even though most of the popular apps relied on in app purchases to unlock the rest of the app or to let players buy their way through the game. This confusion caused the European Commission to step in  and request Apple and Google to change their current systems to be less misleading about "free" apps. Apple's most recent change replaces the "FREE" button with "GET". The Top Charts panel still has the Free category but that might change with an update.

it seems weird that it just shows GET everywhere but that will change as user adapt to the change. Download would make more sense and seem more natural than GET

This just made me realize how weird GET sounds if you say it slowly and think about it...

This is so low on the newsworthiness rating that I'm pretty sure it's being read by Ubisoft at the earth's core.

Next up: Dell replaces an ampersand with 'and' in terms & conditions! Riots in the streets! Back to you, Peter Jennings' corpse.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

This is more newsworthy than another half a dozen threads about how bad Ubisoft is or that GTA has a first person sex mode.

Short for "get fucked"? That's pretty much what it is going to happen if you fall for a "free" app with in-app purchases.

The stone cannot know why the chisel cleaves it; the iron cannot know why the fire scorches it. When thy life is cleft and scorched, when death and despair leap at thee, beat not thy breast and curse thy evil fate, but thank the Builder for the trials that shape thee.

hmmm squirky apple, replacing a single word instead of labeling apps, smart move, smart move(not that "free" apps are completely free most of the time)

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

I have a feeling that micro transactions are the reasoning for this. I imagine Apple must get a boat load of complaints about "free" apps actually costing money with all the in-app purchases.

Pro tip: Read the OP before you make an obvious post...

Mate, it's right there in the OP.
