iMac 5k 27"

Scarymonkeys

Just curious to know what you guys think about the new iMac? As usual, it's very overpriced as you can build something with the same specs a lot cheaper, but the 5k resolution is a cool add-on. As a single GTX 970 can't handle 4K resolution at ultra settings, wouldn't this be pretty underpowered for a couple of games? Aside from all that, I think it's a kind of cool.

Well building a high quality 5 K display into an AIO form factor with THAT kind of performance...yeah that takes a lot of effort, I would never call it overpriced. Expensive, yes, but not overpriced.

Gaming on it is a fool's errand however.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

It isn't that expensive if you think about it.

The Dell display in it costs 2000 dollars (reported/rumored. Source.)

For 630 dollars more you have a iMac bundled with it. Doesn't seem THAT bad.

Anyways, I am not a Apple/Mac fan so I don't see myself using this.

4K seems like enough for me (I'm not a video editor so yeah..)

It's awful.

How is it awful? It's not great for gaming, but for video editing and rendering, it's kind of amazing actually.

Not overpriced at all. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2602870/dells-27-inch-5k-monitor-packs-almost-twice-the-pixels-of-4k-displays.html This reports a 5k monitor that costs 2500$. This comes with an os and decent computer too. People just call it overpriced cuz they're uneducated narcissists

EDIT: 2000$ not 2500$ still definitely worth

It's not ridiculously overpriced, the display is what saves it from being that. I'm still no fan of all in one PC's though.

I don't think it's overpriced. You pay for the quality, sleekness, unique experience, etc. Also, I'm pretty sure this is not marketed as a gaming machine, but I could be wrong.

It's not over priced sure, we know this, but if you want to convince people it isn't then refrain from using ambiguous subjective arguments.  Stick to target market and product comparison.  Arguments like quality are moot because apple is not higher quality dollar for dollar than any other product. They are not exactly unique and sleekness is purely subjective.

That was 100% my opinion. Not looking to convince anyone, the  original post was asking for opinions which I gave.

Fair enough, I am so used to apple hate then apple hate hate, then apple hate hate hate hate, that genuine opinions start to look like persuasive texts.

Honestly, there's no reason for it. It's okay to prefer a product or brand over another, we don't all have to want the same things. Brand loyalty isn't inherently bad. I prefer PC over MAC because gaming seems to be more valued for PCs, simple. This is still %100 my opinion, but they are informed opinions.

Expensive, overpriced, this is relative. If you made $350k a year after taxes and expenses you might not think twice about how much it costs.

Ah, I am a heavily objective thinker, expensive/overpriced can only be determined by end use and product quality, whether or not someone can afford it doesn't change it's value, only the end use scenario does.  For example right now I could go and by a titan z or 295x and a xeon on a half decent motherboard and not even batter an eyelid, however I only play ESO at the moment so that would be considered an extremely overpriced purchase even though the purchase was relatively insignificant to me.

It's not really an opinion without reasoning, and considering you just keep saying "its shit its shit its shit" over and over, there isn't much real reasoning there IMO.

If it's as atrocious as you're implying, why not give the reasoning for thinking it's atrocious?

5k for the price of 2500 sounds realy realy cheap. Although I find it realy weird to put that resolution on a consumer grade computer. All kind of youtube, 1080p videos will look blurry or sub par on that resolution. Who can afford 5k gear and sources on a consumer level realy?

Otherwise Apple just isn't for me yet. I like the simplicity of Windows. Install/Uninstall, clone/restore partition when the system is all gone to hell and your back in business in no time. I also don't like to have multiple partitions for multiple OS since I play games. Rebooting even if its fast is realy annoying to me.

I also find it VERY odd that all the input/outputs are at the back. Why not the side if they want to hide it or under? I don't know what is the best but definitely not the back imo. I don't like to have extending cables, so that would make me angry over time.
