How much are you willing to spend on a computer?

joester050

Things have been the same in the PC world for several years now. $240 gets you a good CPU, $150 gets you a very good board, $250 gets you a good midrange GPU, etc. The price structure, gen after gen, has been the same for a long time. Obviously, the longer you wait, the better the parts will be, but there is no sense waiting for a GTX 760 equivalent to be $100 in 2 years as games will be more demanding and a 760 equivalent won't cut it (it barely cuts it now...).

I think my max would be £2,000 or £2,500. Unless I had the money to add more, I would love to build an duel, maybe even a tripple SLI system that is fully water cooled with hard tubing along with separate coloured fluid for the CPU and the GPUs in a Case Labs case, but the price is what holds me back from doing anything that exotic.

I'm willing to spend whatever it takes to run "x" game I want to play at a quality level I want, plus a little extra to give the system a decent lifespan.. Once the system isn't performing I look at upgrading.

I'll spend as much as I need to in order to have the experience that I want, as long as it's doable within my budget (gotta pay the bills first of course)..

I believe that I've probably spend ~$3500 on various electronics in the past year or so (maybe year and a half?)..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

At one time I try not to spend more than a 2 week paycheck ($5900) but don't buy full systems for myself often.

Holy balls, man! ONLY $5900?!? Geez bro, I only get like $100 p/week

I would spend as much as I reasonably could. I know that some people will just buy a decent setup that works nicely, and that's completely reasonable. But even when it's stupid, I still want to spend more. PC's are my thing.

If I was given the money, I'd say 5k-8k.... you can get a really nice custom pc for that it seems.

I'm not willing to spend anything more than $750.00 on a single computer. With peripherals, it shouldn't exceed $300.00 (Including Headphones, Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor, AMP, Speakers)

I'm at ~$1,800. I would have gone with Hyperthreading or a 8350 if I could go back. (Just because of minecraft servers)

For laptop $1200. For desktop $2000

5800X3D - RTX 4070 - 2K @ 165Hz

Originally I spent about EUR 1080 (USD ~1375)

Then I upgraded it (SSD, more HDDs, Cardreader, etc.) so now it's probably a total of EUR 1400 (USD ~1785) I spent on it... damn that's pretty much actually...

When I get a new rig one day I think I'm gonna spend roughly the same amount or up to EUR 1500 (USD ~1900) on it...

Of course the money in USD is just the conversion rate right now... The actual parts would've probably been cheaper in the US.

The laptops I am interested in are about $800-$1000. I want a laptop for future school and because I'm often not at home and don't like lugging around a desktop. But, I've built a couple desktops that are great for about $650. I would most likely do a $500-$600 desktop with nothing but onboard graphics for few weeks and then get a nice $200-$300 card. I can do high end but not top-of-the-line from my current income.

My current $430 refurbished laptop plays games nicely. But, the CPU is lacking. It used to get darn close to overheating where the display port would be burning hot and the fan would be blaring crazily loud but I recently took everything apart, dusted it, and applied new thermal paste to the CPU and dedicated GPU. It doesn't even get warm during heavy games anymore. I still plan on upgrading to a laptop with an Intel quad core, dedicated GPU, and a 1080p monitor. This ones monitor has bad viewing angles, only does 1600x900, and just can't do rendering with C4D very well.
