CPU Cores for Gaming, Streaming, & Rendering Simultaneously

NCIX: http://bit.ly/1vKYbHH

Since the release of Haswell-E, there has been a lot of discussion about whether a CPU with 8 cores is really necessary for most prosumers. So, we decided to test what kind of real workload an 8 core, hyper-threaded CPU can handle.

I guess we aren't special enough any more. Lets bring stoats to the forum. They will make everything better.

But who the heck does all this at the same time? All the YouTubers I now actually stop playing the game before rendering it. I expected a more real-world scenario where he would use a rig with the stuff he mentioned (antivirus, chrome, updater, etc) running, not a video rendering.

I can only ever dream of having a rig that powerful, so I don't really care about this one, Linus..

Linus and team, please run the same test with an FX-8350. I know the Intel will definitely beat it. But I like to see how it justifies the hefty price tag. Will it outperform the 8350 THAT heavily to justify the cost? I'm dying to know. I know some people will as well.

780ti Super Clocked

Intel Core i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E 6-Core 3.4GHz (didn't overclock)

ASUS Sabertooth X79

256 ADATA SSD

3TB WD Caviar Black

16 GB if 1866 or 1600 ram.

Thermaltake Toughpower W0132RU 1000W 80+ Gold Fully Modular

Custom Cyberpower case that came with broken top part.

Normal DVD writer

Windows 8

A Hard Drive Cooler

Thermaltake aftermarket air CPU cooler.

This seems like as good a time as ever to bring this up. Given the specs listed above, what is the streamer doing wrong that explains why he can't play, record and stream at the same time? To summarize he has a 6-Core Ivy Bridge E CPU with a fast 3TB HD and a 256GB SSD. He explains that even with his powerful PC listed above he would need a second one to multitask this workload within the first 4 minutes.

Below is an example of him trying to play, record and stream RAGE from over 3 months ago. This is an example of something in his setup holding back good results, which is why the recording is bad.
