Linus indicated that in the tighter configurations on the mobo getting air intake might be an issue - any idea how much space is really needed between two cards before they start outputting a bunch of extra heat? I think my current motherboard (Asus ROG Hero VI) has a large enough gap, or would I just need to swap a reference one to be the bottom slot and this to be in the 16x slot?

I like the 970, running cool and silent on a pc next to me is a must. But i will wait for the 980 to arrive after winning and i will give a better answer
