Isn't this done in every first world country already?

Although I can see why you Australian users don't like it with your already slow internet speeds...

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

kind of, most other countries don't have their isps at gunpoint to store the data and give it to the government tho...

Well, I think of it this way:

  1. They use it to catch paedophiles, serial rapists and child pornographers
  2. I have nothing to hide in regards to that, and I hope you do not as well

Without recording apparatus, it is near-impossible to convict the right offenders effectively.

why not have a gun directed to everybody's head all the time?

No harm is done, unless it is fired and those guilty can be dealt with effective immediately.

No. why? It is illegal in many countries.

The USA (and its government) doesn't give a crap for its laws though.

Think of it not as the government, but as an independent body ensuring the security of you and other citizens

That is basically what it is.

Nobody gives a single shit about you watching "Teen with BIG BOOBS fucks TIGHT BLONDE", partly because there are millions of other 'mundane' people exactly like yourself, with mundane browser habits. They are only ever bothered about people actually doing something wrong. (like the British convicts that founded Australia) OOOHHH BURN

I guess it's just like Logan; the more you follow it, the more you think it's worse than it is and then you turn into a raging schizophrenic, and you can't talk about anything else.

God Damn it, why why why why why just why

I like that the government is trying to prevent attacks and such even though we aren't really under that much threat, however to do this so intrusively just makes me sad.

Now I understand  that we can't go around completely invisible to the government in terms of the internet but I would appreciate it if the government actually listen to the public and not some conservative dick head who knows nothing about what he is saying. Labor and Liberal are both shit, neither of them can keep promises and neither of them are prepared for today's society, labor got close in a last ditch effort but how long was that really going to last, fuck both of them we need a new party.

If you watch politics for long enough you start to realise that not much is new under the sun,  and all this liberal/labour bashing serves no real purpose, people who blame the parties rarely understand the depth of the issues that we are facing.

While I don't agree with data logging or phone record keeping (which they already do),  I don't necessarily think it is the fault of a political persuasion.  It's the fault of capitalist societies and where the money drives the nation.

The shipping and duty costs to get stuff into New Zealand nearly makes them 50% more expensive :/

if you live in NZ, i recommend flying over, buying a wholer computer except case and fly back, its cheaper :P

It was a glorious month, i will tell my grand children about it one day.

They can store the data, but it's not like they will ever look at it. I've been treating the internet as though people can see my every action for a long time.

EDIT:

I think the worse thing about this is that the cost of our terrible internet connections is going to go up in order for the ISP to store all these records.
