Do Windows updates help in making Windows faster?

Guest

Because I checked 'Never install updates' for some reason while installing Windows since April 2013, now I am updating, 65 important updates.

Will this cause a noteable increase in speed somehow? :P

Probably not. There might be a little speed boost if any of them fixed something that was terrible...

Nah it's almost never the case. Those do bring both feature and security updates so if you've got the time and a fast internet connection do install them however. They're not as "urgent" as windows would like you to believe (I've been running with 0 updates since 2009 as shown on another thread) but they're a good practice.

Yeah, I updated :) or still updating, it's a good thing to do anyhow.

I'd for sure do any service packs that are available, I would honestly just say make your life easy and do them all so you don't have to worry about it, that's what I do.

I don't get why people don't update Windows, I mean it doesn't even take that long and it's always good to keep your OS secure and optimal, isn't it?

If Windows works and is stable, keep that option ticked off.

Not when an update creates an incompatibility and breaks what was once working before. I've had to do system restores in the past because of an update breaking something. Not worth the hassle for me, personally.

I guess I've never had a problem with updates. From my experiences, they usually fix things rather than break them, but to each their own. :P

Don't get me wrong, I do succumb to updates if my system is being weird, but if things seem fine, I leave things alone. :P

I let Windows automatically update and I've never had an update break anything.
