I bought one off ebay for $300, inspected it in person and I believe it may have been an RMA replacement. It still has a warranty I believe, but I haven't registered it on sapphires website yet.

There isn't a speck of dust anywhere, and I don't believe the stock cooler was taken off to clean it if that were the case which is what leads me to believe it may be quite new.

Even if it dies in 6months to a year, I'll just buy a 390x / 880 or something.  For $300 and this type of performance, regardless if it's used or not, it's a killer deal.

$350 + $32 in shipping is not great. I would spend $400 and buy a custom R9 290. Reference cooler on a R9 290X or 290 suck.... and blow ..

Maybe because they want to make a sell quicker? I hate it when they are over £200 :/

How come you can get a used R9 280x for almost the same price (if not less) than a used GTX 760?  If they perform a lot better than the GTX 760, then why aren't they priced higher?  Is it because of low reliability and issues with artifacting?

Ex mining cards, defective cards. That's almost all the cards on sale there. But there's always that dude that needs some money fast and he sell his stuff.

Usually miners sell various GPU's at the same time, saying that the GPU's was used for Crossfire.

Be very careful.

this is true, you have a damn leaf blower in your case, and if its not loud then you are being throttled down to 600 - 700mhz because you don't have a custom fan profile.

i bought my r9 290 right when they hit newegg for full price, now i wish i waited for non reference coolers, i'm getting the corsair HG10 when it comes out.

Mining cards, although brand new, sealed 290 and 290x's go cheap too. A 290x tri-x BNIB the other day for £235... I wish I'd had the money to bid.

Should I still get an ASUS R9 280x DCUII (only costs ~$200) if I can get a warranty along with it?

maybe these cards are cheap also because of their temps going to high and if you purchase vanilla model you still need to purchase a cooler if you want to keep your card healthy. im seriously considering getting a new r9 290x before i had a asus matrix platinum 7970 ghz that was buggy as hell it had problems running fc3 , crysis , gta 4 , and had framerate drops looking to a wall in dead space 3 maybe it was a defective card sadly the card died on an accident then i got a gtx 680 classified that was very stable with all games that i sold now i want to build a new computer with an amd card because the price/performance value.

Most def i'll stay away from used cards  :D

People stay away from them because everybody thinks all amd cards are mining cards as shown in this thread. A notable value of the cards are but even then I doubt the mining cards are as bad as people claim. I've seen a fair few people who have bought ex-mining cards say that they have had no problems. I've not seen any people say they have had problems.

probably a mining card, but in my opinion that doesnt matter.

they are selling them cause its not profitable to run them anymore, doesnt mean its broken.

7990 and 290 cards will be cheap in the comming months.. just get one with warrenty left and yor ok
