GTX 880 possibly come to Gamescome in mid-Aug

ViruZ_HUN

If that leaked firestrike benchmark is legit then that means GTX 880 = 780 Ti performance. Also it will use less power & emit less heat and cost around 499$. Basically since Nvidia isnt ready to release gpus on a small process they're going to release the 880 to hold people over until spring 2015.

and this... is good news ? the same ?

If the Asus releases a Poseidon 880, I'll pick it up for sure.

I'm normally an EVGA fanboy but I love that water cooling support.

Good thing there is the EVGA Step-up program, if we get to see the cards and price/performance is better (which I think is not, the 880 will start at $650 again I guess...) I'll just change it. We might also just see just the Titan II or another useless technology/gadget though...

If this score is legit I might move over to 2nd gen maxwell and not third like I'm currently planning. Although the 20nm cards would have the capability of waay out-performing this I doubt we'd get anywhere near it's potential in the first gen (well technically second but the 750/750 ti are special).

who cares about maxwell and who cares when they announce it, all i care about is new tech and when they release not announce, and maxwell doesnt have new tech same old ....

Until pascal its gonna be some boredom gpu market "Pascal GPU will feature stacked DRAM,Unified Memory and NVLink".

What do you want them to do? Make pascal appear out of thin air? They are still working on it. Hell they are still working on maxwell

I am more likely Intressted in GTX 880 TI then 880. I am pretty sure that they will release it around same time the 880 gets released. The only difference is that GTX 880 ti got 8 GB Vram instead of 4.

Anyone else waiting for 860?

Yeah. My 560 1GB is not really cutting it for me anymore. Especially since I RMA'd it and got back a different one with a cheap ass single fan cooler that literally doesn't overclock half as well as my original. -_-

Why do people think an 880Ti will exist?? The 780TI was special because AMD wasnt releasing anything that could compete so Nvidia decided turn off some cores on the GK110 chip.

Not the same... remember you're comparing the 880 to a 780 Ti not a 880 Ti to a 780 Ti or an 880 to a 780

Why would it not exist? AMD will come up with something which makes NVidia to create the glorious GTX 880TI.

I won't get 880 unless i get information that 880ti will not exist. But IF amd comes up with something else which is better then 880(ti) then I get that:D Possibly r9 390x or something

If the GM204 has disabled cores on it then there is definitely going to be 880Ti, but we have no way of know that or knowing if Nvidia is going to nerf the GM204 chip and fully unlock it later on. If they release a full GM204 chip don't count on there being a 880Ti because even a good OC can't be sufficient enough to give it a "Ti" name.

I think Nvidia knows how well the 780Ti improved their reputation over AMD, so making a successor to it would generate a lot of hype.

I get 6050 points on a 780ti classified, and that's NOT anyplace near it's maximum OC

when will they stop making very minimal increases and actually release something worth buying ??????????????

For some reason, when I hear GM204, I always assume it's a mobile based GPU. No reason why.

Actually it is probably the "M" part as all mobile gpus have an "M' in them. That is why I think that I also think that.

Is it unlockable?

But If there will be a 880Ti will Nvidia possibly give it before 2015?

I guess that GTX 880 was not OC eaither. SO IF you OC it You could hit 7000:D

So is it a bad time to build a rig with a 770?

I wouldn't say its a bad time to build a rig, but if this is true you'll save quite a bit of money by waiting a couple months. If your current computer is fine, try and wait a bit longer. If you desperately need the upgrade, don't worry about it and get the 770 now.

I highly doubt it, a smaller die process will not handle power nearly the same nor handle heat ,

new cpus and gpus will suffer in terms of OC potential as processor die's get small and smaller: proof? look at sandy bridge vs more current processors in terms of average Oc's,  5 ghz was common whereas now it's " golden " and rather rare on " safe " voltages.

Vince ( Kinping ) is getting 8600 + on a single gpu in FSE on the KPE 780 ti,

a 780 or 780 ti is more than enough and the 880's won't be nearly as much of an upgrade as assumed, if the reported core count / bus size etc are correct so far.
