How the F*** did you get a 4770k past 4.5Ghz!? You must have gotten a golden chip, you did you delid and replace the heat transfer stuff?

Technically, a lot of 4770k's could possibly get to 4.8Ghz, some would just require heavy duty cooling. However I've typically seen a lot of OC'ers get there 4770k's at 4.5 or higher. 4.8Ghz is actually sort of normal (not common, just normal) for an OC'er to get as long as they've got at least an H100i and a good motherboard with at least a decent chip.

i'm using an 8350 @4.6 with 1.368v. i got it last summer figuring/hoping more and more games will start to optimize for multi-core processors and because it was cheaper than an i5-4670k. plus if i'd wanted to upgrade to a 4670k i'd have had to change my mobo too. and i figure i should be able to keep this one for several years before i'd need an upgrade again. upgraded from a Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition.

pretty much only used for gaming. i just rendered and posted my first youtube video last night so we'll see how much of that i do or not in the future LoL.

Well if you decide to do it more and enjoy it, but don't have money for an i7. Definitely look at the E3 Xeon 1231 v3 or 1241 v3.

Just bumped up my 3570k to 4.5Ghz @1.22V.  I'm gonna try for 4.6 and 4.7 when I get home from work.

Yay for clean power from a new psu!!

wow, ok I have so many systems.

2 i7 2600s

1 FX 8320

1 core 2 duo E8400

1 Athlon64 X2 6400+

1 Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.2Ghz (Awful CPU, overheats when idle, requires frequent cleaning, doesn't even support 64bit or more than 3.7GB of memory)

The 2600s and the FX 8320 I use as gaming & workstation powerhouses. 1 2600 I use as my main gaming system at my dorm my FX 8320 I use as my main gaming system at home and the second i7 2600 I use as a LAN party system.
The duel cores from intel & AMD I've used one in a build for my little sister to game on & one for general usage by the family.
I'm just waiting for the Pentium 4 system to die now basically. I also have two more Pentium 4s somewhere in my old motherboard box where I keep all the legacy stuff.

Ok, so the new 4790k is just clocked higher at stock with improved heat spreader and some power faze adjustments, I know other than that its the same CPU but the best OC I've seen on Devils Canyon is 4.8Ghz - H100i or custom loop. (not counting the cherry picked ones at Intel's reveal that hit 5Ghz on air)
