What do you look for in a reviewer?

I know there are a million and half reviewers now, but I want to know what this community looks for in a reviewer.  You like Linus or you wouldn't be here, but what do you actually look for in a reviewer video or written?

Do you prefer a written review or a video review?

You can see all of my reviews posted in the Member Reviews Section!

The "Why" of it all. Why did you pick this part? Why is it better than something else? Which one is better for the money? I can't get my hands on the product myself, so I need the reviewer to cover all of the things that I would think about if I bought it. It is one thing to say that headphones look nice, but how do they feel when you're wearing them?

What do I look for?... Is it Linus or his team? If yes, then I'll watch it (depending on content).

I have no interest in seeking out other reviewers.

Thanks for the comments guys!  (Well at least some of you. :P )  I'm honestly just looking for good feedback on how I can improve myself.  Not going to plug my channel or anything, but I will be posting some written reviews in the future!

That the person knows their stuff!

I have watched countless reviews from people that just do not know anything about the product other than reading off the spec sheet

Especially things like camera reviews, these can be the worst

1. Personality of the reviewer - Linus and Logan get my kudos on that. Linus keeps the upbeat atmosphere, while Logan interjects a lot of fun and humor into his reviews.

2. PERSONAL knowledge and history of the manufacturer, based on previous reviews. (This can be difficult if the reviewer is new to the scene, and may have to use Wikipedia at first).

3. Focus on what the consumer needs to know and not bore or confuse him or her with needless jargon. Sure, we as advanced users like to hear jargon, but we tend to get lost in it. Sorry Lauren, but you need to work on that.

4. My main thing: BIAS. I know that reviewers are looking for sponsorship to continue reviewing so that they don't have to pour $$$ into purchasing products. But if he / she keeps recommending one manufacturer consistently over another, I won't treat that review with any credibility. Yes, I am talking about the top big three review editors on the Internet.

I use a 'moron filter' on tech forums. If I don't respond to your post, considered yourself filtered out.

Would you mind clarifying this some more?  Are you saying a reviewer who is sponsored by a certain company and only recommends that company and are unwilling to reach out to other companies for similar products?

Or are you saying someone who is just starting out only reviews one or two companies?  The reason I ask is because I've been reviewing a lot of Corsair/EVGA products lately, but that's because it's what I own and I am willing to back them as a prosumer. For instance, I own a Corsair Air 540, C70, two K70s, M95, HX850, Vengeance RAM kit, H110, About 14 SP120s (PEs and QEs) as well as an EVGA X79 Dark, a 770, two 780 Classifieds, and a Supernova G2 1300w.  I also own quite a few ASUS products. Now, don't get me wrong, if any company were to send me products to review, I would definitely do it and be as unbiased as I can about it, However, I can't give as much of my knowledge about other companies as I can with EVGA or Corsair because I've used both of their warranty services (Both fantastic by the way!) and I can completely recommend them without thinking twice.

tasty pc :P

seriously though. long, in depth reviews that have a proper conclusion and express there own opinions. i think ttl does the best reviews by a long way, tasty pc tv does good in depth reviews, but sometimes they are a bit short.

By clarification; I mean a reviewer who is sponsored and will opt for their sponsors' product over another company. The reviewer can still review other products, but will be expected to add a few negative things towards a competing product. It's a Quid Pro Quo.

Real life usage... That's why I always look forward to Linus' reviews... His reviews tends to cross with my daily usage of stuff... and humor as well... I dont really care if all he talks is pros about a product and be bias all the way to the roof but if the pros in his eyes are cons in my eyes, I still like the review just because he mentions it...

If I'm looking to buy then lots of graphs are needed.

If not then they have to be good to listen to, I don't think bias is a problem so long as you know what that bias is.

if its the host, then entertainment is key.
if its the thing the host reviews, then i want as much information i can get.
