Ate

Sauron sorry but you sound very ignorant and are the reason why people think pc users are such asses.

Show me where I'm wrong. if you think pc users are asses you're probably on the wrong forum btw.

I'd rather save up 200 dollars to buy the iMac from 1299$, you'll get twice the better stuff. In manner of speaking of course, I ain't an Apple fan. But still for that price, seems suitable for students.

I find it insulting that people feel this is a good value. It has laptop components, absolutely no computing horsepower, and it's a pain in the ass to upgrade it, ever.

Apple uses soldered on RAM, you know.

Now, i'm not saying this is better. This is different. It's not an all-in-one, but it's a vesa chassis that can be mounted to a vesa monitor.

It can be upgraded later on if choose to be.

Apple is masterful at scamming people. Sure, that's a great web computer. But are you going to spend $1100 on a Facebook machine?

For those saying "Who cares how other people spend their money": It's insulting is why. People spend their money on stupid things, it's insulting. No two ways about it.

Who cares how people spend THEIR money? It doesn't have anything to do with you.

I have an iMac. It's a beautiful looking computer and it gets a decent chunk of use. I also rock one of (if not) the fastest computers on the forum.

Why did I buy it? Because it's very minimalist. Looks good. Performs well. I paid for the company name and the design of the computer. It's thin, small footprint.. Also because I'm a real computer guy and don't discriminate on brands like you posers (take that lightly)

If I was to break down peoples computers in this thread based on what people are critiquing Apple over.. You'd run and hide in shame. So stop being little dicks. You guys really do sound idiotic.

Truth.

Why is it so hard for you people to understand that the people who buy these don't intend on upgrading parts.  They don't know how and they don't want to know how.  It's actually shocking how few people understand this.

LOL, and another person with a fucking $50 cooler master case.  Because that cooler master case has the build materials and R&D behind it like the iMac.  You just compared a $50 case to something that would sell for well over $400 if it was sold on the market.

I just said it sucks for the price, then someone replied it doesn't and that's the right price for it. I pointed out that it's not even close to the right price. It's not just an Apple thing, if you're going to make me pay almost twice as much for hardware I won't buy it from you.

I agree with you in the aspect that you are buying hardware that adds up to much less than the selling point; however, you do get a good warranty and a well built, clean looking computer and the mac logo. If it's worth is up to the buyer. When I buy Nike or Under Armour I know I'm paying more for the brand but I feel it's worth it. Plus I don't think there target demographic are people like us on this forum who are probably all tech savvy and enjoy computers

No... I'm not ready for my thread to die, not yet.... nooooo......

Because an H440 has the looks and R&D behind it that an iMac AIO case does.  What you provided isn't even close to a viable alternative.

I would argue that the H440 is a fantastic looking case.. I actually have built two PCs in this case (one in white and black accent, and one with black and red accent).

And why isn't it a viable alternative if it both perform better in every way, and if you take that H440 it will look outstanding on your desk..

Hahaha, no. They might use all macs for the consumer facing stations because they want that hip image and stuff but people doing actual banking related stuff? Yeah they're definitely on PCs on some office building somewhere else.

This is a point, but the fact still stands that they use them. Regardless if it is just for the "image"  as you put it or some other reason. Is it the best choice from a cost stand point? Probably not. I'm not arguing for or against using them. Just stating that a $1000 iMac would have a logical use somewhere like in the case of this bank.

@elite

Are you limited? Have you seen the reviews on that case? It is a monster?

Fine, spend 200 dollars on a Silverstone case that will survive a .50 cal round.

Its now 1300$ to mac's 1170.

It still harbors a 4x faster CPU, and 7.5x faster GPU and twice the ram.

It did when I bought the iMac I'm using right now.  It won't when I switch to a PC though.  Either way, there's a market for iMacs.  People want them because of how they perform AND look.  That's why I find it so hilarious when people show these builds they come up with and use a $50 cooler master case.  It's pure ignorance.

Yes Apple can be very successful on the one business sector rich enough to basically waste thousands of dollars just to impress their middle class hipster clientele: banks.

No but joking aside, I truly understand that fashion has it's place and it's a market and as tech becomes more necessary a lot of people will want better looks (even before the iphone I remember stupidity like Diamond ecrusted, gold Nokia symbian phones) What I dislike is people pretending that Apple is as big as they are because of the tech side or the specs, that's not the case. It's the fact that they're fashionable, a trendy company overall.

Even PC enthusiast after a certain point will waste tons of money on stupidity like overly done water cooling systems, more than 2 gpus, etc. It's just the way people are.

There is no problem with the price of just Apple products. They cost the same amount that anyone else charges. An unlocked 5s costs $650 and S5 costs $660 and an HTC One M8 costs $640.

And a nexus 5 costs 350$ and has comparable hardware. Did I ever say the s5 and one M8 aren't overpriced? So that's one point out of the way. The discussion is on a desktop pc with a ulp dual core, a mechanical 500gb hdd and integrated graphics that is being sold for the price of an i7 with an ssd and a discreete gpu plus a monitor.

The common person has no idea what quad core is or dual core. But yet Samsung is advertising their 2.3ghz Quad core Snapdragon with 3gbs of ram. The average guy knows nothing about tech so that makes no sense, yet suddenly they subconsciously begin to think that more ghz and more ram is what makes a phone good, when it isn't. This is why the average guy thinks that an 8 core AMD chip is better than an i7. Same thing with Apple. Their new A7 absolutely shits on anything that anyone else has made. This isn't me being a fanboy, this is just a fact. Its not because its 64 bit or any bs like that, but just because its architecture is more advanced(which I find rather sad considering it destroys a Snapdragon 800 while the guys at Snapdragon are dedicating their whole lives to building a chip). And the most amazing part is that it is still dual core. But because its dual core and only 1.3ghz, the average consumer thinks instantly that the S5 is better because its clocked higher and has twice the cores even though it is way faster. In my opinion the average consumer doesn't need to know all this because to them its just misleading. What they should know is that its x% faster. Hell, they don't even need to know that, they just need to know that the experience can't be any smoother. That said, if a tech fanatic wants to know about the specs, than he should, and he can directly from Apple.

So you're telling me what makes a phone better is in fact the ability to take panoramic pictures built in when you could do that for years with an app? It's like saying when they advertise a car they should simply say "it can't get any faster and easier to drive" instead of saying "it's got this 1.4 100hp engine and has this and that traction control". It's not true that the A7 "destroys" the snapdragon 800, they trade blows pretty evenly: here's a benchmark cycle. And that snapdragon is also found in a 350$ phone. As for the "it can't get smoother" part that was also true 3 years ago, why didn't we see a price drop on these things? The only people who can really use the full potential of these devices are tech enthusiasts like us, WE should be the target costumers for high end phones, not the random guy who only needs facebook and music. So when they advertize it they should give numbers, concrete reasons for which THEIR phone/laptop/desktop is better than a more aggressively priced competitor.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Fine, buy a 200$ case? H440 surely isn't a $200 dollar case. You seem to like it...

It still is only 1300 to Apple's 1170... and still has a 4 times faster cpu, and 7.5 times faster GPU, and a 1440p monitor with 4K support.

These aren't opinions, they are facts. And it runs the MAC OSX operating system you seem to hold so dear.
