I don't think I'll ever be contempt with how my PC is >:(

MPX309

Like there are degrees of acceptability and that's usually duration orientated. . . But there'll always be something else I 'must have' or even 'ooo that looks good, gonna get one, don't need it but fark it' . . . But also I realise it's money I choose to spend on, it's not so much as wasted money, I know people who go out on a weekend, spend 3 days getting wrecked and have blown 2/3 hundred quid in as many days on alcohol and whatever else. But when I first started building PCs, I originally set a goal and I passed that goal a while ago, the goal posts keep changing, getting further away, but that's fine. There's obviously budget restraints too. . . I also feel maybe hardware is moving a little too fast, but atleast it's evolving. I'd rather have that than a stagnant market for 4/5 years.

Anyone else feel like PC 'enthusiasm' is a long haul commitment?

I wasn't complaining as such, just evolving. I have a ps3 shaped box collecting dust behind my tv, the drive has gone in it. Console is just too bland now.

I know what you are talking about, buddy. Right now i am in the phase, where i plan out upgrades of existing parts of my PC, and i allways try to concinve myself to do it, because it's "just 40 bucks + sell my current part". :D

The question is, do you have a steady income, or not? We are talking like a small job for 100-300 bucks a month. If yes, that's good, if not, keep dreaming. :D

who cares...

I am always looking to the next evolution of my rig. Started building with a certain budget in January this year and have now doubled that budget, with no plans to stop as new stuff comes out.

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!

You can't always get what you want. And sometimes you can, but you have to be reasonable instead, because that's what life is. Don't blow your money on stupid stuff. The serotonin rush from new hardware is nice but it comes at a hefty price.

I was heavily in the OCD computer phase for about a year. When I had to replace my power supply three times I stopped caring about how it looks inside because

1: I don't have a windowed panel

2: Nobody sees the insides

3: It's such a pain to clip zip ties then retie them in a perfect fashion more than once

My previous 4P Folding & current Personal Rig

I once was a poor man, but then I found a crown.

I have to show quite a lot of restraint to not just buy whatever I think my PC needs next.

It's a slippery slope.

I guess I'm lucky in a way then. I don't heave the rig to feel that way.

i don't even play games anymore. all i do is buy hardware and overclock it. i'm never happy with a build and always want more speed out of it. its just a case of working your way up. i would say your 2300 is holding back your system with that cooler and board.

I can definitely agree with this.

I'll be sitting there thinking

"Well maybe if I bought some Noctua fans for my H100i then I can get a slightly better overclock."

"Maybe I should do push/pull but my case doesn't fit push/pull so I guess I'll just mod the top bezel with some modders mesh."

"Actually some acrylic panels instead of modders mesh would be nice and maybe I could do the front bezel too."

"Actually while I'm at a power supply cover would be cool too and why the hell not do a hard drive bay cover as well."

"Well now I might as well just cover the motherboard tray with acrylic too."

"How are you going to see all of this through the side panel though. I guess I should do an all acrylic side panel!"

And it goes on and on, one slight modification to the hardware spirals into all sorts of case mods and other hardware swaps.

Yes you get the point of the thread, Wasn't moaning about being into PC stuff, just accepting that I'll never be happy with how my PC is, I kinda like it though, I think the moment you become happy, then you become bored. . . so to speak

It's like DJing, I used to get nerves before playing, but now I don't do it as often, lost the passion and kinda just treat every gig like I'm still in my room practicing, it's nice to be able to introduce people to new music, they might not usually listen to, but apart from that it doesn't feel the same to me now as it did in 08

Same for me, even though not everything in it can give the performance given, at least you have it and can enjoy it. Most don't even have the money to get anything they want and sometimes even need. It's always better to think about the positive/nice things about something. This is how I usually think about stuff.

Grab that dead ps3, strip the guts out of it and build a HTPC. I have a dead fat ps3 that I'm going to do exactly that to when I'm finished my current build.
