Origin PC Now Offering Financing Option

FTW_Perverse

I apologize in advance if this was already a posted topic.  I couldn't seem to find one...

When I heard this, I thought "FINALLY!".  I imagine a majority of enthusiast can't out-right afford an Origin PC, so this financing option I expect will open up a lot of new potential business for Origin.

I'd be curious to know your thoughts on this and if you personally would be more likely to purchase an Origin PC now that financing makes it somewhat more attainable for the average consumer.

What about high school students like me that make jack all off part time jobs but have no bills to pay really? I think it's a cool option but I would never use it

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

I don't really see the big deal. Not many people can afford a new car straight up cash and pay monthly on it. If the person needs the system for school or work, it's a proper investment.

I can't imagine any company financing someone who doesn't have a steady income that they prove they will have the money to pay the interest and or make minimal payments.

Cars are way more money and are arguably very important to function in this world. Okay for school, yes I agree with that. Though not everyone needs a Porsche as car they just need a car to get to work or school but they borrow the money to buy the Porsche because a bank has allowed them to  even though they can really only afford the Toyota. Banks will gives cars loans to anyone and those loans can a lot of people in financial trouble.

And to get straight I am not disagreeing with productivity and home computers but the custom water cooled dual gpu $1000 intel cpus computers are not what should be financed, to my knowledge that is what Origin PC specializes in.

I'd have to disagree with you there.  I'd buy one if money wasn't a thing.  Enthusiasts often have more than one rig (or can).  I'd be more than satisfied using an origin rig.

I remember that my first non-family PC was a custom built from a now dead PC manufacturer called Axis Computers and the selling point with my dad was that they had financing which we used....and proceeded to skip on lol

The big deal is they didn't offer it before.  It certainly deterred me from a purchase as I don't want to drop $4k - 5k on a rig all at once.  Again, I just thought it was a good step in the right direction for origin to open themselves up to a larger customer base that can now more easily afford one.

You would be better off just saving up your money and buying it all in one go. You save money in the long run and you get the satisfaction of buying something you actually own. It's why I don't take out loans or anything like that.

Totally agreed, that's how I bought my computer (took me over a year lol). I just think it would be attractive to other young adults in general, not necessarily myself. But as @Imabigmac said any credit checks would probably make it a no go anyway

Heres an Idea, sign up for Bill Me Later on paypal and then buy all parts off newegg and use the Bill Me later 6 Months or 12 Months with no payments or interest promotions, Its a great way to get components and you dont pay anymore then you normally would as long as you pay in full before the 6 or 12 months are up.

Why get an Origin PC when you can build or ask someone to build one that is exactly the same which costs even less?

I think that is pretty much the reason why I see so many businesses with Dell computers. One example would be my Dad's work laptop broke, and they replaced the motherboard, heatsink, ram, and LCD in about 1 day. (I think that all those parts broke to an overheating issue or something)

15% interest rate!!! That is gigantic!

That's what I was thinking. Financing through them would be insane.

People financing things they don't need like a high end gaming is how people end up declaring bankruptcy. I could understand if it were for work or a graduate program or something but to go a couple thousand in debt to play videogames is a bit ridiculous.

I will look into this...I would love to get a laptop from them, but don't really have the money for a full out purchase...

I wonder if there will be options of upgrading when paying? Since they said in their FAQ that it can be anywhere from 6 to 60 months of payments, that's 5 years! Tech moves at a fast speed!

There could be 4k screens on laptops in 2-3 years for crying out loud!

The only things you need to finance are.

- Car

- House

- Remodeling your house

- Your childs education.... wait scratch that, they're on their own! By the time I'm 40 we'll be near millions a year instead of thousands and they'll look back "boy did they have it easy"

- Furniture/furnishings, stuff for your house.

I mean after that, it's called a fucking savings account!

I'm Batman!
