What do you keep in the small pelican cases?

My gear really depends on what I'm doing, but this is pretty common when I'm going on a walk/hike and wanna take pictures of birds and other animals. I try to keep it as light as possible. I'll bring other stuff if needed, but I normally leave many things at home/hotel/car if I don't think I'm gonna need it for the outing.

 

 

Some canon bag(free, small, light)

Canon R5 with RF 100-400

Lots of spare batteries(it loves batteries)

Peak design strap

2 media cards(record on both just in case)

50mm lens if case I wanna take a non tele photo.

Nikon D5200. Don't even use the kit lens anymore (18-55).

So the one I use most often is Nikkor AF-S DX ED 55-200 (4-5.6) and sometimes a Nikkor 50mm prime for close-ups.

Once I quit shooting as a job, I transitioned into shooting what I want (which is film) and it actually led to people wanting shoots ON film... And in the end, if you are smart about it, it CAN be cheaper than digital. (at least it could until the recent film cost increases)

Yeah I am looking into film.

My ideal camera would be a eos1 v, but its due to me having abunch of EF glass.

Problem those bodies go for like 600 ish usd.

I've always wanted to shoot motorsports on film, but when I quit paid work, I sold all of my L lenses. Now my only long lenses are for my 4x5 and that is not conducive for fast action.

 

But I highly recommend the eos 1 fantastic cameras.

Noone is taking my 70-200 F4 L is mk1. I love this lens too much.

My usual kit for travel is very straightforward these days:

Sony A1 w/ grip and extra battery

Tamron 35-150 F/2-2.8

Variable ND filter

2x CF Express Type-A 160GB

2x 128GB V90 SD cards as backups

Small Lens cleaning kit

Shimoda 70L backpack w/ the medium DSLR cube to fit the above items into + packing clothes/the like

 

I've found that the Tamron lens really covers just about 90% of the range that I regularly use.  I've considered adding a 20mm in there for the occasional wide shots, but I've managed just fine with the single lens.

 

At home kit:

 

Sony 70-200 f/2.8 GMII

Sony 24-70 f/2.8 GMII (picked this up to test for travel use instead of the Tamron, will probably wind up selling it)

Sony 200-600 f/5.6-6.3

2x Teleconverter

Tripod

 

Most of these I will use for more regional shooting when I go the the mountains/parks. I have tested taking a mix of all of these lenses for travel and I just can't help but be spoiled by the versatility of the Tamron. The exception is the 200-600 which I reserve for travels where I know there will be an abundance of wildlife and I will need hefty reach.

I have a few varying Tiffen mist filters that I don't use.

 

Tripod: Benro FBAT24CVX25 Bat Carbon Fiber Tripod Kit with VX25 Ball Head

 

Lights: Canon EL-1 (sold it), some random 50-watt panel lights, some random 20-watt mobile lights

 

Others: Savage Seamless Paper, Varying Reflectors 

 

Bag: Kelly Moore Luna, Kelly Moore Pilot 2.0, and Peak Design Everyday Sling v2 (3L & 6L)

 

I like bags that don't look like photography bags and remain fashionable.
