How bad is road construction in your town?

zogthegreat

Hi everyone!

Recently, I posted about the traffic nightmare in my city due to road construction and how the dust is destroying my PSU fan. It got me thinking... how bad do other people have it in their town/city? I live in Montreal, where the road construction can only be described as epic/legendary. And that was before the city decided to dig up every street in the city and replace the 150+ year old sewage and fresh water pipes. Here a map that the city posted for current road construction:

I emphasize current because it's autumn and road construction winds down at this time of year due to the fact that concrete won't set below a certain temperature.

So, how bad is the road construction where you live?

A few years ago they had to fix a bridge a few blocks from my house, on one of the main thoroughfares.

They took out the bridge, and it was gone for a little over 2 years.

Well, two entire towns and part of a third and fourth burned to the ground two years ago here, so it's just been constant here. New manufactured homes have been rolling down the interstate since then, but it's really not bad. No delays, other than when Californians/Washingtonians cause huge wrecks on the interstate because they can't understand the concept of a speed limit.

Ontario only has 2 seasons:

Winter and Road Construction

Basically once they finish one road (or 5), they move on to some other road (or another 5). The 401 (The busiest Freeway in Canada) is also nearly always under constant construction.

Richmond is pretty pro-active, they pretty much repave roads every 5 or so years so out of the entire Metro Vancouver region, we have the nicest roads. The only exception is this dumpster fire of a project:

Which has been ongoing for 3+ years now and so far they've only really "completed" that 1KM green section.

Every single route to my office that isn't dozens of kilometers out of the way, is destroyed with road construction right now. It sucks and it's been like that for years.

we’ve had quite a bit of work. we just got a brand new great wolf lodge in our town, so they needed to make nee roads to connect the main road to the resort. we also are the only city in all of california that had a diamond intersection, so that took another year. they then connected a main road because it was split in this spot for years. after that they have been starting to repave a lot of the roads because in 2018 the city celebrated 100 years, so yeah.

how are you doing today

In my area in the holidays, they never do road works. Then the day school starts they start doing it across the entire town.

We have had two roads closed for at least a year an a half. Michigan just started a project this summer to fix 12 miles of i275 and all the bridges, including the ones that go over the freeway. In some places they have it down to like 1 lane.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Would be nice to see progress on the Massey Tunnel sometime soon, stalled progress when talks ever happened..At least the replacement project is line now.

Soon to be widening towards London! Jokes aside, it is pretty the main key between Midwestern US to Central Canada, I do respect MTO for keeping it in decent shape for the sheer volume that goes through the 401. Same can't be said for Gardiner since that's always been falling apart.
