When will LTT create a channel on Odysee?

https://odysee.com is an  video streaming platform similar to YouTube and it uses the open source LBRY protocol. It also has youtube sync functionality, so all of Linus's videos will be uploaded automatically and new videos will be added immediately after it has been uploaded to YouTube.

 

I would really love to see LTT here. Thanks

Probably never. Linus has said multiple times that YouTube is his core business. There has to be a major value proposition to adding a new platform, as even if things automatically upload, there's still a cost to maintaining your presence and fostering a community on said platform. That value proposition isn't there for a virtually unknown site like this. Linus has sometimes questioned even the worth of Twitch, and that's a huge platform.

 

EDIT: It also doesn't work in your favor that this particular platform has become a haven for far right idiots that have been banned and/or demonetized from larger platforms like YouTube.

Because they have floatplaneas their alternate platform. Creators will stay where their audience is, and that is youtube.

 

Why don't they have a vimeo? A daily motion? Etc etc

Because it's not as simple as just uploading to as many website as possible and ignore all of them, that's not how you build a healthy relationship with your viewers

They had a Dailymotion. Not sure if they still do.

Are there any money to be gained vs man-hours setting up and maintenance will cost? As profit motivated business, you don't take on anything unless you see current or future profits in it.

Additionally Odysee is the direct descendent of LBRY which was known for hosting crazy whackjob creators who would regularly get banned from YT and other "reputable" sites for their views / videos.

 

It's not a site I would be keen on getting involved in due to the bullshit they peddle.  (Go look at their "top videos" or whatever it's called.  They've got some /real/ winners.)

That the channel is called "Monero Talk." I think I was reasonably clear about that. More specifically, that a video posted on a channel called "Monero Talk" was apparently being shared in support of the idea that Odysee is a platform worth the effort for LTT to post their content on, and not just a repository for crackpot ramblings.

There are other techtalk people there like thechoftomorrow there are many cathegories there just look around.Get off you high philantrop horses everyone has to start somewhere.Even linus started somewhere.Remember that just like lbry is just starting to coming up  and lot of yourttubers gone there for a valid reason and they even might stzil upload on youtuzbe but they are synced their channel to lbry.Does it hurt you reputation do such a thing that is even free and the only thing you have to do is just make a few clicks?I think not.There is a varitiy of people there.Lionus himself made backup nas that kicks ass.Look it as a back up.

Some people actually view this as a good thing. You don't have to agree or watch their content but selective censorship is harmful and counterproductive. Youtube is a lost cause

I'm more interested in the mechanics of how it uses the blockchain and how the payment system surrounding that works. If they or someone can effectively make a decentralized youtube that pays proportionally and fairly Youtube doesn't stand a chance.
