Normal. Usually last gen consoles get 1-2 years additional support for games and security patches and thats it.

Even if Sony were to kill the PlayStation Store and online support for the PS4 next year, it would still be a good, cost-effective gaming machine if you buy it second hand. But I highly doubt they are going to do that soon. The PS Vita has been on life support for a very long time now and it's still going fine. Sony was going to kill its PlayStation Store (along with the PS3's) this year, but after the backlash they received from the community, they left it alone.

If anything, they'll pull the plug for PS3 and Vita before even thinking about touching the PS4.

the Vita is a dead platform, the PS4 still have a giant playerbase, so to be honest, i think as long as it is profitable it is kept alive, especially with the launch of PS5 because of chip shortage.

there will still be games released for a while, and to be honest, the Ps5 is more a "evolution" than a revolution, the main thing here is SPEED, loadtimes are so much better on the newer consoles..

and even a PS4 with an SSD will not get anywhere close speedwise because of the system optimizations done on the system.

Sony didn't discontinue PS3 manufacturing until 2017, I think the PS4 is good.  If anything, due to PS5 shortages, I think we'll see the PS4 and it's software support last longer than normal.  I wonder how many PS5 devs right now are saying 'Errrr, we need to uncancel our PS4 builds, there won't be a large enough PS5 install base due to shortages...'

PS5 digital edition is $400

Thats if you can find one. Also $400 is MSRP not what they are going for.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Have you seen the going rates for used PS4's even?  I can basically get all my money back on my PS4 Pro that I paid on Black Friday 2017. o.O

Not that I want to but wowzer.

I bought mine a few months before they started talking about the slim and pro.. gotta say I was pretty choked with their new tactics.. I still bought a bunch of games from their store, but after my free year of plus I was pretty much done with it. It was for my kids anyways. It sounds like a jet.. always has. I own a Vita too.. pretty sweet for remote play 😄

Nothing. It was no where near as successful as the PSP.

what do you mean "killing off"?

btw $300 for a used PS4 Pro is not that good, the PS5 digital edition is $400

and you are suposed to be able to play PS4 games in your PS5

Oh boy don't tell me even PS4 prices have gone up because of this fiasco...

I mean, unless you're doing something unofficial to mitigate the issue (which I probably can't mention in forum due to rules), they're somewhat broken due to the CBomb issue, especially when the servers per platform go offline.  That was enough to make me decide I was done with Sony consoles since the PS console exclusives I actually want to play eventually end up on Steam anyway...

I wouldn't bother with a base PS4 if you're going to get one though.

Here you can get one if you wait from 1 to 14 days, shops are always bringing more

Well here the scalpers buying up with bots. The local Walmart has it posted that they wont have any in stock and you have to go to Walmart.com to buy one. Which in turn all the scalpers buy and jack up the price. My friend has looked for a PS5 for months and cant find shit. Its to the point he said Fuck Sony because I guess some of the games on Sony's subscription service which will be released for both PS4 and PS5 are only being released for PS5 on the service. So that pissed him off to the point he went back to PC 100%.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
