CaptainCake501

I've still got a bid in on a r9 290 thats almost up but if I dont get that card to tide me over should i just take the hit and get a scalped Sapphire Nitro+ AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT for 1200$?

HOw badly do you need to game? That's an insane amount of dosh to play pretty pixels.

Ultimately, that's up to you to decide if spending that amount of money, knowing you are getting ripped off, is worth it or not.

We can't answer that

ive just built my first pc, its been a paper weight for 3 months now. it is A LOT i could get a 6900xt at 1000 msrp but i know stock wont normalize until 2022... it is something i do need to consider at this point but 1200 is soooooo steep for it

edit: im trying to finally get away from console gaming but this search for a gpu has left me questioning that decision.

I don't know what countries you're in but atleast in my country there's hardly any scalped components, run out of stock?, Yes but not scalped

So i suggest to see your local market ethier brick and mortar or online to buy a gpu or a place holder if you just need a functional pc

You’d probably come out ahead if you sell your components and buy a prebuilt, sadly.

Any chance you're willing to go with a 16xx series or even the older 10xx series?

I find the markup on the local markets aren't as bad on those cards.

The higher you go up the ladder of performance, the bigger the markup seems to be.

I saw a 1080 TI for $400 a while back local to me.

Right now, I'm looking at a 1080 TI for $1,200 on CL. Nothing else available local, period.

I see some decent deals pop up in my local market every once in a while.

The key is to stay on top of it, refresh the page every day or when you can, and if you see a solid deal, jump on it right away.

Don't haggle, just offer asking price (assuming you think it's okay).

If you try haggling, by the time you get a response, someone else has already offered asking price, and you miss out.

video gaming is still cheap.

supply side prices rose. I expect gpu price levels to be up 20% permanently.

If you don't really want to wait, get the cheapest prebuild with the graphics card you want, rip the card out and sell the prebuild (or give it to someone that needs it).  I am in Canada, got myself a Dell XPS desktop with the 3060 ti while on sale, took the components out of it and "build" myself a PC.  Got some replacement parts sitting around and put it back together.  I can now neither sell it to cover some cost, or give it to my kids / dad if they want it...

Yeah dude for that price, buy a whole system with a 3070 for $1600 lol.

Also, the 6700XT is worse in almost every way than the 3070.

Seems supply might be getting a little better very recently. Should hopefully be able to get a card next year.

Resist.

Scalpers are unscrupulous and you must resist the urge...the dark side awaits if you are not strong.

Seriously, though, try and avoid it.

You've got no recourse if it's faulty, you'll pay an extortionate mark up, and you'll fuel an exploitative system.
