Honestly the 11600K looks pretty good (the lower end chips might also be good, we don't know yet though). The rest of them aren't worth it at all though.

Disappointed to say the least. If intel doesn't manage to actually bring 10nm to the desktop market for next gen it's bad news. Because chances are, if 11th gen runs this hot as it is, they probably won't be able to compete the next gen unless they plan to ship sub ambient coolers with their higher end skews.

I think the lack of any serious overall performance improvement from 10th to 11th gen clearly indicates they've hit the maximum thermal wall. There really is no where left to go with 14nm.

 

They are at the change nodes or slowly die stage now. They need to deliver on the node change, new tile architecture and 3d stacking and do it on time. The one thing I do think they are wasting their time on is the big/little desktop architecture which I think is just a waste outside of mobile platforms. Time will tell though.

I think Intel should not have released an i9 this generation. Imo the 11900K should have been the 11700K and the rest of the lineup could have stayed the same. 11900K perf at $399 (11700K price) would have been great and in the same position of the 11600K (almost as good in performance, lower price)

This is the general consensus, it makes no sense release an i9 that's identical to the i7 and even worse gets nowhere near competing with AMD's Ryzen 9. But Intel does not care about reason they care about profits and people have proven them since the i7 8086K that their fans will buy literally anything for premium $, just say it's "binned" and voilá.

 

The truth is the entire 11th gen is pointless, you can can get the i9 10850K which with an OC is identical to the i9 10900K and it's 10c/20t goodness for cheaper than the 11700K and motherboards are equally cheaper, only 10th gen is competitive against AMD at all.

Can you test the integrated graphics? They supposed to have make improvements from past gen. 

I know they won't be awesome, but on the current market state, people consider them

That's exactly how it looks like. The 11900K is almost completely pointless (actually, let's just say it's completely pointless since it's too similar to the 11700K), the 11700K very barely makes a case for itself, and the 11600K manages to escape much of the critique, albeit not without some power consumption concerns when unshackled.

 

Which leaves the Core i5 11400 lineup, which if it's actually good, may be good news for those wanting a decent 6C/12T for a good price.

yeah but i5 10400f was already dirty cheap, few weeks ago here was sold even for 122€, now around 135

but i agree, i5 11600k looks a decent performance upgrade over the 10600k, unlike 11700 and the totaly fail of the 11900k
