Linus hates kids? Doesn't want to let them work

Work is a human right and Linus wants to take that away from people just because they are not age 18. This is very disappoint.

I hope Linus puts himself in their shoes. How does he imagine people eat if they cannot work...

Uhh I play Minecraft and I luv Fortnite. My parents bought me this PC that I upgraded with a RGB fan but the RGB doesn't work so I deserve a job. Totally don't want to a job there just to get a new rig as a Christmas bonus.

What Linus said is highly inflammatory and Linus should elucidate publicly why he supports efforts to prevent young people from being able to work and eat. Age fourteen is not some child and human rights do not depend on age.

I'm sure Linus doesn't want to prevent tweens from eating. 

 

In the united States the federal age to work more than like 3 hours a week is 14. 

 

Many companies restrict younger individuals for a variety of reasons. One legality of driving. Another is general maturity. Some colleagues may view individuals under 18 to be too much to handle or take seriously. 

 

Without knowing exactly what Linus said I can only project his position.

Afaik there is a very rare thing people can get. 

 

Basically kids that grow up in bad households in the US can supposedly get a document that makes them legal adults at 16 and therefore their own guardian and all legal connection with their parents dissolved. 

 

Very rare and basically required for the sole purpose of keeping young people safe from very bad parents.

So for reference, this rant is about Linus and Luke first talking about Apple knowingly using child labor, then continuing about it during SuperChats and talk about LTTStore.com availability:

So seeing that, this isn't about Linus hiring teens. But if it was, please see British Columbia labor laws before posting such again. And if you don't know what "child labor" is and why its frowned upon in general, ask your economics or society teacher to talk about that (or the one who tells you how taxes and other stuff like that work). In short, its not about letting young people to earn money. Its about treating them as if they were adults, and still paying them as they were kids. Meaning long work days, limiting their access to school, paying some 20% of what adult would earn for doing exact same work.
