Corsair RM850 PCIe Question

KingCole

Hey LTT Forums,

I just got a new RM850. I noticed the cables for the PCIe connectors have one end for the PSU and two terminal ends. This is the first I've seen of this and wonder would the one cable be able to provide optimal power to both PSU inputs on my GPU (it's a 8 + 6 pin)?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, a single cable's connectors are fine for a GPU that needs two plugs.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Yes a single cable would be enough, although if I remember correctly, Nvidia did recommend users to use two cables with the new 3000 series cards.

But I have been running my 2070 Super for almost a year now on a single cable (which also uses an 6+2 pin & 6 pin).

It's fine to run the 8+6 off one cable.   I been doing it for years, including my 5700xt

I refuse to read threads whose author does not know how to remove the caps lock!

Yes, they did and for a very good reason..

The recommendation is generally to use one cable if the GPU TDP is below 225W, and to use more if it's higher. So it depends
