Do you guys keep a journal?

A journal where you write every once in a while about your thoughts, experiences, everyday life, etc.

Hey there.

Used to, yeah. Had an online blog where I wrote down my thoughts about anything meaningful that came to mind (morality, emotional control, gratitude, daily life, school, faith, love/infatuation, sexual/romantic orientation, etc.). Sometimes I turned particularly interesting days or dreams into a bit of creative writing. Also used to keep a physical diary in my room that I wrote in when I thought too much and couldn't sleep.

My home tutor got me into the habit when I was younger. It's a good one, for people like me who do a lot of reflection and introspection, or if you like writing and reading in general. For me, translating my thoughts into words lets me organize them in my head. Once I have a clear picture of what's going on and can identify what makes sense (or doesn't make sense), it's a lot easier to work on what I should improve on or give more thought to.

Goes without saying that it can also improve your reading/writing skills, if you're a stickler for grammar and punctuation rules like I am. 👍

I started keeping one when I started my Masters degree.  But I strip out any names or identifiable information.  It's how I discovered that my toenails go ingrown about a week after temperatures drop below 0 every year.

Then I keep a physical sketchbook drawing journal for thoughts I can't put into words.

If I have to explain every detail, I won't talk to you.  If you answer a question with what can be found through 10 seconds of googling, you've contributed nothing, as I assure you I've already considered it.

What a world we would be living in if I had to post several paragraphs every time I ask a question.

I have a small journal for thoughts that are impactful, or ideas that are groundbreaking. In it, my writing style is unlike anything else I write anywhere else. In fact, many probably wouldnt be able to understand it.

Sometimes its hard to organize thoughts when constrained by typical writing practices.

Does this count?

No, I find no productive use in doing so.

Of course. How often do you write in them?

Sometimes its weeks in between writings, some times days, or more than once a day.

It just depends on how often I have ideas or thoughts worth writing down.

I've recently taken to content creation, one of my outlets is Youtube. For some reason I think this is related, only in my own head maybe.

I have lead an "interesting" life, so rather than writing my life down in a journal, I started writing an autobiography. I've got the fist 100 pages or so done, but when I ended up in a loony bin for a bit, pumped full of drugs, well, things got hazy and I've been trying to remember what happened and put it down for the next 100 pages or so, but it's slow going as I simply don't remember stuff.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.
