LTT Official Folding Month 2020!!!

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

Luckily when I said it was almost done, I really meant it.

For the last time in 2020, ladles and gentlespoons, here a blog post.

And with that said, it's a wrap! Thank you for everyone getting involved, if you'd like to continue talking about folding why not head over to The Folding Community Board

So, I'm wanting some quick public opinion, we got someone who has entered with two different folding names, I think this is a disqualification offence, he was messaged to ask which folding name he'd use and didn't reply

If they can prove that both the names are their accounts then I'd say it's fine.

Quote me to see my reply!

But that would mean they have two 'chances' at the prizes, which is why I'd disqualify them. to me, it's cheating

I mean, that sounds like cheating, but if you're willing to let them just use one that seems like a civil way to deal with it.

When it comes to points it doesn't matter, but it is an issue when it comes to prizes.

Guess there are two options,

1. Kick them out of the event

2. Let them stay, but they cant win a prize

The prizes are just a bonus, the event is what matters, personally I would just block them from winning a prize.

I've decided disqualification on the basis that;

1. We attempted to resolve the matter and our message went unanswered

2. In previous events they would have been automatically removed at the start of the event.

It's not something that I like to do, but for the integrity of the event I shall do.

I've been trying to convince myself not to pick up a 2060 just for the sake of having a dedicated folding/encoding card - being roughly a 2060 away from the top 10 is not helping 🤔

Just spent all my "lunch money" on virtual machines. Looking at how close I was from taking 1st I wish I didn't let off the gas so early this morning...
Now Ill fall back and let my 1070 Ti, 970 and 1050 Ti keep me in top 100👍
Once everyone's up and running and we have some consistent numbers ill make a push for a "daily" 1st!

40 days of folding on 2x2060s at 1.5 million PPD each results in 120 million points.

24 days of folding on 1x3080 at 4.5 million PPD results in 108 million points.

I think the 3080's PPD average is going to go up a bit since it's had fewer samples to catch back up to itself after the CUDA patch, but either way it's close enough that I'd personally prefer to stick with the single more powerful card if you're 100% certain you'll get it at that time. There are a lot more uses for a single more powerful card, and more events in the coming years.

Yeah, I was thinking this. A 3080 would be more use to me, I could upgrade my pc in the lounge and game on it, instead of having a couple of 2060 lying around.

Thanks, I appreciate the maths.

I feel like the 3080 could be around the 5 mil after tweaking, my 2080 super does 3.4 mil and my 3090 does 6.5 mil, so I'm hoping for the 5 mil mark.

In conclusion I will stick with the 3080.

I do really want them to do well, I hope big navi delivers, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Same. I was primarily ATi/AMD on desktop from the HD 5000 series up until Fury, I've been waiting for a great high-end AMD card to pull me back since.
