Looking for new Android phone $300-400

GamerGuyEbby

So my Samsung S7 Edge is done and has been done for a while but I've kept using it. It has the signature pink line down the screen, its getting really slow, the battery has gone to shit, and it gets pretty hot. I want to get a new Android phone but I have no idea what to look at, I'll list some of my requirements and hopefully you guys can recommend something.

  • Needs
    • micro sd card storage (at least 128gb)
    • headphone jack
    • decent camera
    • nano sim card (i think that's what is used on the S7 edge correct me if I'm wrong)
    • not samsung lol
  • preferences
    • metal construction (glass is fine too)
    • home button

Another thing is my S7 edge sucks with texts and calls and stuff and i believe its because I got a verizon S7 refurbished and unlocked and I have AT&T and I just entered a bunch of info that i have no idea what it means that i found online that made it somewhat as best as I could get it. So I would prefer a new AT&T phone most, but refurbished AT&T would also be fine. If I have to get an unlocked one then so be it, I'll just figure it out. Hopefully someone can make some sense out of that last section.
Thank you in advance.

iPhone SE is not an Android phone. While that is the phone I would also recommend before any other phone at this budget, OP specifically requested Android and a feature set that the iPhone does not offer.

You are asking for a bit much with the home button there. A xiaomi mi 9t is a great device for 300$ but does sadly lack sd card.

lg phones, depends how cheap you can find them, g8, v50 fits under 400 in my country.

otherwise older g7 (non fit) , v35 , v40 are great options

Bit of a quirky phone, but the Motorola One Hyper meets all of your requirements.

Eeeekkk... This is so 2010.

Can't remember a new phone with this feature.

Samsung still have this on their Active lineup, but it's samsung.

With swipe navigation you won't remember to even need a home button, trust me.

I...don't think you're going to find all of those options in something that isn't a Samsung for the price you want to pay.

How important is the expandable storage? The Pixel 4a that @DrMacintosh recommended is probably one of your best bets. It's not expandable but has 128GB.

You could also check out Motorola, they often have really good sales, however their cameras in anything apart from the top tier phones aren't great. I think the Motorola Edge is on sale for $499.

The LG G8/G8X might be decent options, but again, camera is probably not that great.

You simply won't find a home button on a phone these days, aside from the iPhone SE.

730 performs miles better, and it does have a microSD card slot. V50 ThinQ is definitely a better value if OP can find it within budget.

yeah you're probably right about the home button, im probably just used to it. But yeah expandable storage is pretty important to me (i might catch some heat for this but whatever) because i have all music locally on my phone, right now its at 76gb and I'm always expanding it. I just prefer having the files.

yeah its always a must to have micro sd card

backup , media files, way cheaper than fixed storage capacity, ease of device change

Honestly, if you're that into your music, I'd just spend a little more and get the Samsung 10 Lite and a DragonFly Black.
You're going to get significantly better sound than you would out of any other phone. S10 Lite can be picked up for $375 new on eBay.

1) OnePlus nord(if its available in your country)
2) Pixel 4a
3) Samsung A71 haze crush silver as you're looking for a metal look. Great specs overall. Personal recommendation
4) If you can spend a bit more then Samsung Node 10 Lite or iPhone XR.

Don't go with SE 2020 at all. It only has one plus point. A13 chip. Everything else sucks. small display, only 5W charging, weak resolution and lots more. Checkout unboxing of all the phones first. Some good channels like Unbox therapy, Marques Brownlee's gives very good product reviews and will help you decide your phone.
