Poll: Where Do You Usually Buy Tech From?

Snapy1

I have a micro center about 30 minutes from were I live. The downside to buying from a local store, is sales tax.

thats the reason i buy from newegg, no tax. when your buying a bunch of expensive parts at the same time, that can be a life-saver :). and newegg ships pretty fast, usually gets to me within 3 days

I try to buy everything in-store instead of online since NCIX and MemoryExpress are both 5 minutes away from where I live. With price matching/beating, there's not reason for me to buy online. (And we have the same sales tax in-store or online.)

Atic computers in Vancouver, lowest price in town bar none but notorious for their rude and snobby employees.

the price is the only reason anyone goes there.  Just asking for a bag for your purchase earns you a dirty look.

NCIX Broadway store.

Only problem with dealing with them is they rarely if ever answer their phone.

They lost a ton of business from myself and others for that.

I use their website for reviews by people who bought things I'm looking for.

Memory Express in Richmond

Serious competition for NCIX for sure.

The search function and filters on their site is great.

Futureshop and Bestbuy when they are having promotions.

London Drugs for boxed games that other stores don't stock.

Micro Center employee discounts make it a no-brainer for me, not to mention that anything I don't get a decent discount on can be price matched. Our bundle deals are great, too, and you won't find CPUs cheaper anywhere.

  • 1 year later...

I'm really curious,

I come from France, and I know that everything which is being sell in a store is at least 15/20% extra. I would never (I did it when i was young ... everyone make mistakes come on !) buy something going directly to the store, and I read a lot of people who does that. Another question come, is it the same in your country ?

Also it doesn't cost anything to ship if you don't mind waiting 1 week and having to go to a place in the city where you can pick it up.

And most of the time, the shipping at your place will cost something like 10€, and if the amount is more than 100/200€, it would be free !

So what about you ?

ps : sorry for my english !

I wish I had any tech store near here besides Staples or Best Buy

we literately would have to drive out of state (fastest solution)
