If you could have...

XGoodGuyFitz

If you could have any and all parts for a pc, what would you have? You have unlimited budget and can have anything and everything you want. This includes the pc, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and headphones.

PC I wouldn't make that complicated, just the best hardware for my purposes (so probably a 3950X+2080 Ti+128GB RAM+all the rest to match).

Monitor, I would get 3x 4K IPS 27".

Mouse? I am not that picky about that.

Headphones? I already have my dream headphones, but I would add an amp+dac combo.

Keyboard? Oh boy, that is something I am enthusiastic about.

So I got unlimited budget? Do I also have unlimited time? Because I am working on my own keyboard project, but the main reason it's not moving forward is a lack of time.. Provided I have enough time, I just want a 65% board (maybe 75%), in a clicky, tactile and linear option (probably Kailh Jade, Zeals and ... Maybe Ink Black? respectively).

Plus, I would have a good numpad too.

Both should have a steel or aluminium backplate, wooden case, nice thick keycaps, etc.

So... When can I expect all these products in the mail??? :D

Probably get a threadripper build with a quadro rtx.

What I'm more interested about is displays. I'd get whichever is the best eizo colour accurate screen out there and then get a wacom cintiq 32 and 16 as "displays".

Get a nice wireless keyboard and upgrade to the new mx master mouse.

A full mech and scissors switch keyboard (will see what the options are).

Then probably get a zehpyrus g14 and same mouse + keyboard for that.

Really just displays is all I'm after :p.

My current PC because it is very sentiental to me, but with a different case with a shitload of front 5.25" bays, Noctua fans all round, beefy air cooler, more storage, etc etc etc. I don't need anything faster, and most of the hardware here is very special to me.

I would keep the same monitor stand, but throw (if such a thing existed...I don't think it does) 3x 24" 4k OLEDs on it. I'd get a new G703, and a shitload of keyboards. Beamsprings, F122, all the Alps I can find, etc etc etc. Just a bunch of endgame stuff to fill my collection.

Being realistic and only upgrading to parts I could get full use from I'd double my ram to 32gb, get a decent ultra wide monitor and a couple of RTX titans. Oh and maybe a 4tb hdd. Changing my cpu, mb and cooling would make little difference.

Edit

Forgot, I'd need a more powerful psu for the titans.

I'd buy a house-sized supercomputer with as much of it made out of literal gold, then sell it all away and spend the money on more useful things, like bills and food.

My desk has a mouse/keyboard and 2 Dell IPS monitors that I connect with a dock. I do a lot of my work just on the notebook though.

Ryzen 3950x

Asus X570 Hero

2080 Ti

^All on a watercooled loop including watercooling the VRMs

Around 64 or 128 high speed RAM.

Optane drive or equivalent.

A large amount of SSD storage for the rest.

Throw that in a black Lian Li PC-O11

All matte black everything expect for white cooling water. No RGB. Maybe a strip of white LEDs depending on how it looked.

1440p 240Hz 27" monitor for gaming. (Vesa Certified as well, but I don't think they make any yet)

2x 27" 4k color accurate monitors off to the sides.

55" 4K OLED TV mounted above for content. (preferably 40-45" but I don't think they make OLEDs that small yet)

I already have my end game mouse and keyboard. (custom built keyboard and Logitech G903 Hero)

Prob a nice set of headphones, DAC and amp, but I would need to do a lot of research before I settled on one of those.

OH and a pair of Vandersteen tower speakers with a 14" subwoofer as well.

Custom floating desk built into the wall. Everything cable managed into the wall as well.

For my basement, a Ubiquiti UDM-Pro and a new 10gig switch would do the trick. Upgrade my unraid server from 8x3tb drives to 8x12tb drives.

ask me about my homelab

on a personal quest convincing the general public to return to the glory that is 12" laptops.

cheap and easy cable management is my fetish.
