Beginning of the End? - Robotic Dogs Enforce Social Distancing

For Science!

My opinion: Makes me uneasy of course with the idea that this sounds exactly like the start of how Terminators will inevitably come to be. Remember those videos from Boston Dynamics of these robots being able to open doors? Yikes :P

Or that Netflix episode from Dark Mirror, can't remember the name

Quote

A robot dog is patrolling one of Singapore's parks as part of coronavirus-related trial.

The machine - made by US-based Boston Dynamics - is fitted with a camera to monitor how busy Bishan-Ang Moh Kio Park becomes.

It also carries a loudspeaker to broadcast social-distancing messages.

Its controlled remotely, so not quite "Terminator" level of creepy yet :D

See no difference from riding around in a van with a loudspeaker.

Then with facial recognition, and first a taser, then a turret :P

Inb4 it's much more versatile and AI empowered that it comes to conclusion to execute the terminate command.

It's Singapore so you'd be fined at least 2000 dollars and probably banned from the country for vandalisim and harassment :)

Well, I am in Singapore and punishment for damaging or destroying public property is a S$2000 fine and/or jail time :]

It's a dick move regardless - those are remotely controlled and the operator did literally nothing to deserve the frustration and having their day ruined.

I also kind of understand why they decided to use robots - there were cases of attacks on safe distancing marshals, I'm guessing they're trying to make their job safer that way.

See my video above, kicking it does absolutely nothing, except for getting you arrested for vandalism and/or criminal damage that is.

Good on them for enforcing Social Distancing without putting the health of random workers who would've had to do it themselves, in danger.

Now if the robotic dogs could bite the shit out of assholes who think they can just go out and party while the rest of us are trying our hardest to stay in confinement until this shits plays out, that'd be great.

I swear the virus would already be gone if everyone who didn't have to go out, stayed in for just 2 or 3 weeks. But noooo, scumbags who don't want to stay inside ruins it all for us all and now that the sun is coming out, it's like everyone and their dogs NEED to go out like they are some kind of fucking plant lifeform.

Funny enough vitamin d deficiency does make you more vulnerable to the virus. Also not everyone has a 3 weeks supply of food so that isn't super practical. I mean alot of people don't have a three weeks supply of toilet paper either.
