I am willing to try and taste anything.

I am NOT willing to take away meat.  Sure, maybe reduced my intake of meat to once or twice a month, but not completely. There has a to be a medium to your economical issue somewhere in all of this. Let's not be extremists here.  ;)

I think being a vegan is expensive. Being a vegetarian is cheap.

Being a healthy vegetarian is hella expensive (gotta get that unmodified, all natural, vitamin enriched lettuce instead of iceberg lettuce, and that craps expensive). I want to point out that vitamin enriched and unmodified are contradicting qualities.

Like, really, the cheap vegetables aren't usually healthy vegetables. AFAIK.

This is true. Where you live matters a lot, I'm sure.

It depends a lot on where you live. Decent meat typically runs a premium, and you don't really need all organic vegetables. I understand the fascination over organics, but I don't really think they're absolutely necessary.

A grain, vegetable, and unprocessed fruit diet is remarkably cheap. Even the supplements don't cost that much.

But yes I would think being Vegan is more costly, in addition to being hard to find anything to eat without having experience as a professional chef.

I was a vegetarian for a while and didn't like it, but I still try to steer away from big-brand meat (Tyson, Purdue, whatever the hell Wal-Mart uses, etc.). I don't have a problem with eating all meat, I have a strong dislike for factory farmed meat because it always makes me gain a few pounds and feel like crap after I eat it, as opposed to open-range meat. Factory farmed meat however is really cheap (sometimes 1/2 the price of organic), so sometimes it's either eat like crap, and feel like crap but have some extra money, or eat well and dump your wallet out at Whole Foods.

it would be no problem for me to turn vegee. i know what i have to eat to get all the vitamins, minerals etc...

if we didnt eat meat, everything would be cheaper actually, and there would be more food

Honestly, this. I like meat. A lot. But I don't need it. It's more a luxury for me.

I love a good salad. I prefer mine without dressing. Add some shredded cheddar cheese, a chopped boiled egg, some sunflower seeds, a tiny bit lot of salt & pepper, and I'm good. Strawberries if I want sweet.

Usually I add chicken to have it fill me up more, but as I said, I don't need it.

But that's the mindset the vegans / vegetarians I've met have. and they think eating plants isn't harming a living organism, what the eyes don't see the heart won't feel I guess.

I was vegetarian for a while, but just found meals a bit boring without meat. I don't like eating meat, and will never eat rabbit, duck, horse, deer etc.. I just eat pork, beef, chicken etc..

I was vegan for 5 years, now vegetarian (been about 8 years I suppose).  Dont really miss meat, but going without dairy and milk was really difficult. Originally went vegan on a bet with a few friends to see who could last the longest, needless to say I won.

Nope. There'd be no need to breed animals since there would be less demand for meat. So the animal population in the category of what we eat would shrink a bit. Companies that do offer the option of selling meat might increase prices in order to cover the loss' since the demand of meat would be low. What would increase is the prices of vegetables since there will be a much larger demand.

Vegetarians don't eat grass.

But Cows eat the grass they shit on! :P

Cool that there are a lot of answers/opinions here! :)

I think price wise its a little more expensive but not by too much. Also getting the vitamine rich food is the same with veggys as with non veggys. The "good" meat is a lot more expensive than the crappy stuff you usually get with all those antibiotics in there und stuff.

Also, most animals are fed soja and i eat soja as a vegetarian so we basically eat the same, but i do it without the killing/pain.

That are vegans :D that dont eat ANY animal products

Actually, i started shorting on dairy products too. I do eat, but i dont drink anymore raw milk, or eat cheese. Its not really "tasty" and its not good for body either, so why bother? I just put a cuple drops of olive oil on bread, and a salad leaf or cucumber, or whatever i got in the fridge. Sometimes i just eat bread alone.

I only like cheese on pizza :D

killing/ pain? you do know plants are living creatures too? you and the animals eat the same thing and you don't want to kill, overpopulation is a problem for people and vegetation is growing thinner and you want to save everything that eats vegetation by living on vegetation yourself? Good luck keeping the Circle of life balanced that way mate. Sorry I am not trying to be a douche, but I get these conversations all the time by people I know irl so this topic kind of just plain puts me off.

Wow in my family we eat meat every day, and usually steak once a week. When I'm not home I usually live off burgers, and I love that.

However, I would go vegan if I had the chance.

yeah well, but plants dont feel. of course they live.

Overpopulation is also not really a thing, the earth could handle a lot more people IF we used the space we have in a good way. Also, why would the circle be unbalanced? There were "veggys" in form of herbivores long before the humans and there wasnt a single problem.
