EDIT: Does number fields do well with CPU work? I can move my 3600 over too.

I am a little confused though. Could someone explain this to me... If our third best throw counts aren't we locked into our first throw of 1.1M? Why are we trying to boost our current 1.2M?

We are going for 1.5M in the 5th throw as well and skipping Throw4 so Throw1 won't count

My 2070 Supers get 8 minutes per task so your numbers should be better.

 

Check your GPU utilization and if it's 50-85% then double up on the tasks per CPU

Yes, it does CPU as well. My 3900x shows about an hour per task per thread. The funny part is they give no bonus for fast completion so you get the same number of points for a GPU taking an hour as a thread on a CPU taking an hour

 

Correction: CPU tasks that take an hour get the same paltry 50-75 points that a GPU task that takes 7-12 minutes does.

To double up on tasks per gpu you need to create an app_config.xml:

<app_config>
    <app>
        <name>GetDecics</name>
        <gpu_versions>
            <gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
            <cpu_usage>1</cpu_usage>
        </gpu_versions>
    </app>
</app_config>

and place it in the C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\numberfields.asu.edu_NumberFields directory then hit "Read Config Files" in the "Options" menu in BOINC Manager

I just did it. Just pasted the code into notepad, made sure it was saved as .xml and threw it in the folder. GPU is up to 95% now.

Unfortunately i've discovered this thread to late. Is it still usefull to move all my (at the moment f@h running) maschines to numberfields or should i just keep doing f@h?

We're at 1,280,025 on Javelin (NumberFields) as of the 13:00EST/17:00GMT update so let's see how we're doing on the 18:00GMT update.

The Rosetta site says there are just 23 WUs available and all of my computers won't get any Rosetta tasks

NumberFields now up and running  Thx for the information if the gpu isn't used at 100%

 

Just another question: are there any NumberFields WUs for AMD card? Everything i can find says so, but my 5700xt isn't getting any work

@GOTSpectrum You know what I wish was a BOINC feature? The ability to dynamically send cached tasks to other BOINC instances.

I couldn't get my RX5700xts working on Number Fields even with the Beta Tasks option set in the Project Preferences. Some people (on Windows) appear to have it working but like in Amicable Numbers I just kept getting Computation Errors. This was under Linux and may be an OpenCL issue

I'm actually under Windows and have the Beta Tasks activated. Sadly no change whatsoever  Guess i let my 5700xt do F@H and my 7700k do BOINC so i can at least help a tiny little bit at the Pentathlon

Would be very nice  But you could also abuse it and just have 20 spare computers laying arround waiting for a WU shortage
