Just various little things, like when it says using GPU Device 0. I'd like to know what that actually is! Better allocation of resources would be nice too!

Looks like my CPUs are only going to get about 65k points in the next 10 hours so I'm switching back to City Run

I've got all kinds of weird going on with my BOINC install on foldatron...

 

It is saying it is using two GPUs but actually running them both on the same GPU and refuses to use more than 2 active GPU WUs at a time.

 

Meaning only my 2070 is actually being used...

If I wanted to nit-pick there's definitely improvements that could be made but overall I don't think it's the worst.

I've not had this issue yet with the software.

 

My biggest problem with BOINC is dealing with Linux AMD drivers but that's not BOINC's fault.

I have no idea why it is having issues on that system but is fine on my daily driver... I don't have the drive to try to deal with the situation either tbh... It will be what it will be...

Amicable 4 on bender has started so far bender alone had 160 Bunkered so im at ~250 in all currently. some of the amicable ses are taking under 3 minutes to compute!!!!

Anyone else experience the issue where you can't get boinc-manager to launch on Ubuntu? I found a work-around but it's stupid.

MORE I NEED MORE RAM!!! Bender got his Greedy hands on 64GB 2666 Memory...Mean while iZac is stuck with 32 GB of 2400...

Alright. I have all my rigs switched over to Universe. Within the next 24 hours or so we should take 2nd for Marathon at which point I think we're better off focusing on other events anyhow.

If you lived within walking distance I'm not joking when I say I'd hook you up for the Pentathlon but I'm quite sure your desktop won't accept the very high density RAM modules I have.

naa lol bender will survive on 64 GB he had 16 GB then i found some Crucial Ballistix 2400 32GB kit still not enough so beder did what he does best and stole from iZac...but at least he gave iZac 32GB in return...Currently hes running 2 instances of amicable on both GPUs and F@H is waiting for the GPUS to idle lol...and Amicable is running 100% on the CPU. so thats 5x~8 = ~ 40GB once the gates open for amicable will only be doing GPU on my 2 Nvidia cards but trying to get every point i can in the lead up to it.

 

Note: it is going to be aPITA to release all the jobs...unless yall have an easy way have to go to each batch to release lol and tell it no nerw work....

After City Run ends I'm going to see how good CPUs are at Cross Country since the ram requirements are so high for each GPU. Just hope CPU tasks don't also require crazy amount of ram each.

Post your cc_config.xml (in data directory) & app_config.xml (in the directory for the project your running)

Hear, Hear. Could not get my RX5700XTs to run either NumberFields where I have enough RAM or AmicableNumbers where I do not. Immediate "Computation Errors" on each with no useful debug info as to why.

At least you can go to sleep for 8 hours running BOINC and not wake up to more than 3/4 of your systems having sat idle for 90% of that time due to a download error.

Windoze FTW!!! only had 6 computation issues all on bender all due to lack of free ram.

96 * 8 = 768GB (I don't have that)

48 * 8 = 384GB (I don't have this either)

24 * 8 = 192GB (Not this either)

 

Basically all my systems don't have the ram to use all the cores, major sad face

NO you miss understand on a 96 core system you should ony need ~8 GB ram if you dont limit size. like on my 3900x it uses all 24 threads under 1x8gb umbrella. unlike rosetta its multicore aware.

So only 1 CPU task runs at a time and it uses all the threads in the system? That's rather nice but kinda worse, thread performance scaling might be an issue and same with NUMA. I might have to split my systems in to an instance per socket. Experimenting awaits.

yeah likely best for multi socket systems if you can. but may not make a difference either...only 1 way to know. throw your 96core system at it HARD.
