Hi, I’m new to the forum, but I been watching LTT for a very long time. I know that LMG is located in Canada. I know that most of the viewers are probably from the U.S. and some from Latin American countries. It would be cool if Linus hired a writer that could speak Spanish fluently because there is a lot of native Spanish speakers in the U.S., like myself, that would love to see content from how to build a pc in Spanish or reviews in Spanish or even a techlinked video in Spanish. If you guys want to expand your audience other than Canada and the U.S., I would love to see you upload a video in Spanish. I’m saying this because there is people out there that prefer watching things in Spanish because it’s their native language. So that’s my wish for LMG. Yo espero ver esto en el futuro. ( I hope to see this in the future.)

you can translate them and make the spanish LTT channel, (without ads ofc).

a swedish youtuber (now more of a streamer) known as Sp4zie had a fan that translated his videos to chineese (only subtitles) but did that for free for over 2 years, and the chineese channel  ended up getting about 100k subs.

Somehow I just can’t picture Linus speaking flawless Spanish. Like maybe he can or does but my brain is incapable of picturing that.

Have you tried submitting spanish subtitles to LMG?

It's kind of pointless to duplicate reviews once in every language since the reviews are timely, they would have to delay the english video, or everyone will just watch the english video anyway.

Why not French too then, or Chinese for that matter, it's a 1 billion people audience after all...

Der8auer is making videos both in English and German and it's a massive additional job. And he's doing that becasue he's German and in Germany and wants to do something for his home fellows... would make little sense for someone like LTT to cover a completely foreign audience in their language.

How about, if you want to live in the U.S. or Canada, you learn English?  Your request is like an Englsih speaker moving to a Spanish (or any other language) country and asking for the people there to go to the effort of doing things in English for you. Most people would consider it to be rude.

If LMG was hurting for viewership they might consider offering certain videos in multiple languages. Since this really isn’t much of an issue at this point I don’t think they have any plans to implement it. I know they have a few members of their staff that are multilingual but I’m not sure if anyone is both fluent in Spanish and willIng to be a presenter in videos.

@Lady Fitzgerald OP is clearly fluent in English. This really isn’t the equivalent of living in a country that speaks a different language and asking native people to make special concessions for you. LMG’s content is available almost everywhere on demand. They could theoretically expand their viewership should they choose to offer an additional language or two on select videos.

You make a good point so I deleted my post. I'm pretty sensitive about the subject because we have had a huge influx of Spanish speaking people in my country who not only can't be bothered to learn English, they actually do expect us to learn their language. I worked in a convenience store for a while after I retired for the first time and almost every day I would have at least one person ask me if I spoke Spanish and, when I said no, had the gall to demand to know why not. I doubt the mods would let me post my reponse to that (and it wasn't profanity laced, either).

That's already being done, LTT has a bilibili channel (officially recognized, not sure if it really is owned by LTT, but they are officially helping with translations) ;

Well that explains why my post seemed to have not been deleted when I thought I had. I thought I was losing my mind (actually, I still probably am).

Honestly I wish more places did what Wales does, with everything bilingual, such as road signs, shops etc.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Bilingual is NOT a good idea. It costs more to make bilingual signs, print bilingual documents, etc. It causes school student to be behind when compared to students who all speak the same language when some students will enter the system speaking only one language and others speaking only another language.

Around thirty some odd years ago when my children were redistricted to a bilingual school. At first, we though it would be a great opportunity for our kids to learn another language but, a few weeks in, we found out though friends whose children were not redistricted that our children were considerably farther theirs. When my sone had a knife pulled on in a restroom, I was able to get my children put back into the school they had back in (it took threat of a lawsuit to get ti to happen).

Countries such as Ireland and parts of countries with areas like Wales are trying to get their citizens to relearn their original languages. So far, it hasn't been working well.

Doesn't hurt to ask, but no, the videos are not enabled for community transcript/translation.

They must have closed them some time, because I have submitted subtitles a couple times in the past.

But normally you are able to add your subtitles to YouTube videos, in whatever language.

Most, if not all, signs in my country are bilingual (Arabic + English), a lot of the schools here are also bilingual (some subjects are taught in Arabic and some in English)

Having bilingual signs is good when tourists visit your country, it's easier for them to navigate their own way.

I think you're looking at this as a native English speaker (English being your first language/most used one), but there are so many languages around the world that having people learn the language of the place they're visiting isn't really the best solution imo.

I wasn't referring to visitors. I was referring to people who move to a country and can't be bothered to learn the language there.

It's perfectly normal for kids to be behind on language skills in bilingual environment.

I'm confused as to why learning a second language is a bad thing?

Learning a second language is not a bad thing. The bad thing was being behind in all subjects, not just language skills.

Not sure how it has to do with learning more than one language, my daughter is fluent in 3 language and she's only behind in reading on one of those language ... Though, while she's not going to a bilingual school, she still have course with the 2 other languages.

It's probably down to the school IMO, because other families I know don't have the issue you're mentioning.

Bilingual schools lag behind other schools because the one or the other group of kids is struggling with an unfamilar language, thus missing out on what is being taught in other classes. Where you live, kids are probably learning French and English before they even get to school. Where I live, there is a huge number of Spanish speaking immigrant parents who don't teach their kids English even if the parents speak some (not to mention a high percentage of Spanish speaking immigrants never do bother to learn English), then, when those kids hit school (in any grade from kindergarten through high school, they hold the English speaking kids back because the Spanish speakers have the language barrier in the way and time has to be wasted to bring them up to speed. When Spanish is being used in the classroom, the kids who were raised speaking English are the ones who will be struggling.

Bilingual education isn't just about learning another language; it's about conducting classes in two different languages. That is what causes kids in bilingual schools to be behind kids in non-bilingual schools.

I can remember back in the '50s and '60s, childeren were required to have learned certain basic things before they were allowed to enter kindergarten, such as knowing their own names, their parents names (other than Mommy or Daddy), how to dress themselves, how to tie their shoes, know the alphabet, and how to speak (back then, it was tacitly known to be English). Even my children, born in the early to mid '70s, had been required to know all that before entering kindergarten. Things changed pretty quickly after that and have been getting steadily worse.
