$50-75 Gaming Keyboard Round-Up!

James

I don't know how many people noticed the LTT mousepad, but I think it looks really good and I'm super excited for when it's coming to lttstore.com

Now I am going to assume that they are going based off the US Amazon since that's what they appear to have in their links.

But seriously, why did they choose the K840 over the G413? The G413 is $64 USD ($4 more) and has a red backlight with double shot keys for pass-through, while otherwise being the exact same keyboard as the K840 except in black.

This typing demonstration really sold me........

Spoiler

It addresses some of the gripes Lew has with his low-profile mechanical keyboard ~ namely the inclusion of comfortable concave curves on each of the keys (as opposed to flat key-caps on the board made by Drevo).

And it even comes with a pretty decent custom key-mapping/macro software!

The Logitech G610 Orion looks the best to me in the list but keyboard overviews/reviews are a bit of a waste. It's a matter of personal preference, until you see it in person and use it there's no way to know if you're actually going to like it. I guess they can compare build quality, software, customer support, and warranty.

Another suggestion for y'all, just out of price range unfortunately ($81). Logitech G613. Wireless, Romer G, comes with wrist rest, media keys etc. Goes on sale for cheaper than that all the time and can be had for $68 if you get it from Amazon Warehouse (I did, works great, didnt come with batteries though)

Everyone obsessing over tall keyed mechanical keyboards and I'm here with like 4th generation of low profile membrane keyboard. Back when Logitech still made UltraX, I had those. When they stopped, I migrated to Cherry Stream 2.0 and I'll get 3.0 when this one goes out. I just can't see myself using keyboards with those silly tall keys. They are just so uncomfortable and literally every mechanical keyboard I've tried had absurdly wobbly keys and I hate that so much. 30€, low profile keyboard, I like how keys behave, it has all the multimedia buttons I need and what's important to me the most, big ENTER key. I hate keyboards with those stupid small ENTER keys squished between other buttons. I need a big ENTER that I can slam with confidence to execute shit without hitting neighboring buttons. Maybe lighting for keys would be an useful extra, but honestly, it's not really an issue since I can type on it blindly without even having fingers on the keys as reference points. So it can be pitch black and I can just type anyway regardless so I'm fine with it.

As a user of the Razer Ornata CHROMA, the "mecha-mechanical" switches really aren't bad. They feel better to me than most of the cherry switches I have tried, and I did not note a "mushy bottom out" on ANY of my keys, much less all of them. Even if I press the key down very slow, I notice only a few mm of what could be considered "mush" at the very bottom of the keystroke, and I do not notice this while typing or gaming normally.

Are MX Blues or Outemu Blues better? Yes. are they also much louder? Yes, which may not matter to some people, but it did for me. Or more specifically, my fiancee.

If you all want a cheap keyboard, go to your local bestbuy and check out MX Blues, if you like them just buy a Redragon Kamura K552 off amazon for $33 USD, or pay $15 at goodwill like I did. If not? Just look for cheap Outemu boards like that from Redragon, as IMO they feel better than cherries anyways.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Wall Of Fame (Informative people/People I like): @Glenwing @DrMacintosh @Schnoz @TempestCatto @LogicalDrm @Dan Castellaneta

One keyboard that shoulda been included on this list has to be the Tecware Phantom RGB.

https://www.amazon.com/TECWARE-Mechanical-Keyboard-Switches-Excellent/dp/B076YHBQYJ/

RGB, hotswappable (unfortunately only with other Outemu switches as it uses Outemu sockets rather than Kailh sockets), doubleshot ABS keycaps, a fiberglass PCB and decent build quality, all for just $45. It's also available in TKL if you would prefer it without a numpad. Tecware in general is a good budget mech brand.

Not even one ergonomic keyboard, like the Natural 4000 which can be had for about $50 and is arguably among the best keyboards ever made in that price range.

Why are people punishing themselves with non-ergonomic keyboards? You may not feel the consequences now, but you will feel them, maybe decades from now. It's like craftsmen using their body all their work life and then coming down with trade associated illnesses once they retire. But just switching to an ergonomic keyboard can alleviate that for people working on computers.

I feel like the Element Z88 from the $45 round up out performs some of the boards on this list.

- Choice between blue, brown, or red switches

- Removable switches

- On board rgb customization

- Aluminum black plate-

 - Best of all, detachable micro usb cable. (probably not the best, but it separates it from some of the boards on this list)

- Cheaper.

Exactly.

I wish they had the big pc hardware stores here where I live like they do in California.

I just want to type on every keyboard, look at every monitor with it on and sit in every chair before I buy. 😄

Stuff can look nice on the internet but I always feel like I'm buying blind on some things unless I can look and touch.

I go down to the local best buy sometimes and type on all the keyboards on display.

Then I think to myself "what does a really good keyboard feel like." 🤔

I like my computers and I like to type.

Plus buying stuff helps the economy, which means jobs.

So I'm going to get what I like even if a keyboard is a trivial thing lol.🤫

😁
