Yeah, was trying to figure where the "work" folder is so I searched everything on Windows and finally found it in Roaming folder. I tried putting it and it didn't recognise it. Also, changing name to 01 didn't help. Finally I decided to let one WU finish and put this one as 00 and I was greeted with "failed upload at 0.10%" and it was just repeating that, I guess someone else already submitted it or is it bugged?

Just tell them "yes it's up" then when they come back you tell them they overloaded it causing it to crash again.

 

Should get them off your back for a little more than 5 minutes because you put the blame on them (even if it wasn't their fault, it's their fault for bugging you however)

Luckily I don't do anything remotely close to tier one support these days (except at home, and boy the SLA here is brutal). Back in the day we'd just had a note we stuck on the door saying:

 

"Yes, the server is down

Yes, were working on it

No, we don't know when it will be back up

Asking us when we think it will be back up will slow down when it gets back up.

We will send a Broadcast out when it is back up and available"

 

Most clients didn't have eMail back then

No, with the 500GB ESDI drives back in those days a hard power cycle would result in a 2-hour consistency check having to run and if you found errors you had to go in with a hex editor and edit sector tables and stuff to get things working again.

 

I don't miss those days.

Yes, when they get the Stats server running, likely Monday afternoon, we will all get a godawful huge spike that will mess up the scaling on our plots.

Funny you say that, both my GPUs are currently on 14180 and 14191 as well.
14191 on my GTX1080Ti has dropped its PPD estimation down to 825K and has been going for almost 5 hours (99% complete). Looks like the GTX1080Ti is picking up a 14180 as its next work unit as well.
Just picked up a 14180 on my HD7970 and that's estimating 15 hours 30 minutes to complete, dropped down from 175-185K estimations I was getting on previous WUs down to 150K.

Just overclocked the HD7970 to 1GHz (up from 975MHz) so will see if it manages to run stable. Hopefully if it crashes it does it at the start of the work unit and not 14 hours in.

There has been major issues with one of the main Work Servers (WS) not downloading jobs and this has likely just flipped most people over to servers with a different mix of WUs.
