LTT Official Folding Month 2019!!!

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

Alright guys, the time for locking this thread has come, can you all please use the Folding Community Board for all further talk.

Thank you all again for participating in the event.

Once the sheet is cleaned up I will edit this post to add the link to the spreadsheet.

@TVwazhere Can you please lock this thread for me.

I did some maintenance to my server at home, that made me realize that I should probably start saving money to build new PC. My server is newer hardware than my gaming pc, server has xeon e3-1220v5 and ddr4 memory while my "gaming" pc is i5-3570k with ddr3. Then again it might soon be priceless antique piece of hardware ?

I would use the server for folding but it's integrated matrox g200 might not be up for the task.

it would be pretty interesting to see how a matrox card stacks up in F@H, if it runs the software at all.

That would be great, but imagine the electricity bills ?

So…yes.  Electricity bills.  But, unless you're using a heat pump to heat your house, you're really just shifting cost from heating oil or gas towards electric to heat with, so the difference is still probably pretty negligible in the budget unless you have very high electric prices and very low fossil fuel prices.  If you use a heat pump (mini split, geothermal, etc) then you'll be using electricity either way, but the heat pump will use about 1/3 the amount to do the same heating job.

yep, and 14220 @catawalks

they're small WU's with low atom counts. that's why. large cards like the TRTX and 2080ti REALLY benefit from huge atom counts in the WU's

add 14191 too that list too, ppd dropped 30%

It had it's 20 year birthday last year.

https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/matrox-g200-celebrating-20-years-of-graphics-excellence.html

So I would think answer to questions like "does it run Crysis" or "will it fold" is "Oh you youngest and your VR headgears, when games had some content and dial-up modems ruled it did run nethack just fine" ?

if only I had just "slow upload"

I have an upload that just fails. Either it can't connect due to blocking of some ips here, or, when it connects through tor proxy I have setup, it's too fucking large to go through.

So basically I'm sitting on over 100k credits which are slowly fading away from initial 150k points and I can't do anything with it. Restarts didn't help, neither did applying http proxy. FUCK.

errors listed below.

I restarted over 10 times while trying out different proxy servers I found, didn't help.

I think placing the folder with the wu in the work directory while client is shut down and then starting the client might make the client detect a wu that is done and force it to upload it. not sure tho

I am thinking about switching out my 2x NF-A14 fans in the top of my case, with 3x NF-F12 fans in my Phanteks Evolv X case.

Do you guys think it will be better for the airflow or not?

The maximum rotationrate is for both fans 1500rpm, but when i am home they will most likely run lower than that. But when i am not they will run 100%.

                  Airflow m³/h      Presure mm H₂O

2x A14:     2x 140 = 280     2,08

3x F12:     3x 93,4  = 280       2,61

NF-A14-PWM

NF-F12-PWM

So the airlof is seem to be the same, but the presure whould be higher. So with the restricted airflow of the case, NF-F12 would maybe provide higher airflow compared to NF-A14.

What do you guys think?

I’ve really have to stop sleeping this month, which usually isn’t a problem with my insomnia but my new meds appear to be working.  Woke up to this:

stuck upload on one slot and the other slot in the same rig had a really slooooow upload and eventually recovered:

and I had an alarm set for 8:30 to wake me in the middle of my sleep cycle and slept right through it. Time to buy a new alarm clock ...

What are you using to collect what appears to be real time PPD data on a per slot basis?

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

are you sure you pulled the stats at the right time today? My EOC stats show 2.9m on 3rd of October instead of 2.5m listed in the data.

image.png.b0f5b9da744fd8d5f2ffcb532cb68313.png

Sanity Checked the raw Folding@Home server data:

2 Oct 2019 23:00 GMT: sanya567xxx,147527501,2101

3 Oct 2019 23:00 GMT: sanya567xxx,150056388,2129

yields: 2,528,887

As someone else mentioned the contest runs starting at 00:00BST (+1 GMT) which means we use the data from 23:00GMT (18:00CDT where the EoC servers are) for calculating the day's progress.

I am the worlds worst typist so we have the process automated as much as possible. I have 2 systems collecting the raw data and we use a vlookup function to import the raw data into a Google Sheet which has conditional Formatting to highlight erroneous values (negative progress values)

So what projects are we all working on at the moment?

14088 on the Xeon…currently estimating well over 5 days to complete, despite being over 7% done (it has been working on it for at least a day and a half though).  Estimated PPD…about 80.

The other matching Xeon is crunching around 4k PPD though.  It just REALLY hates the 14088.
