I'm surprised to see so many people (more than half I guess) have done literally nothing so far.  It will be interesting to see how this changes over time, if they're just taking a slow start or if a lot of people signed up and then forgot or lost interest.

It's fairly common. I think there was around 1600 users signed up for the event and yesterdays update had 666 people with activity so far.

Part of it is people forget, part of it is people lose interest or realise that their system isn't suitable to folding, some are likely invalid entries... Some of it is people signing up just to get the prizes without reading the rules.

There are currently 1541 active folders according to XOC stats, so there's also a lot of people folding perhaps for the LTT giveaway and haven't registered for this event. Plus in about a week we'll start seeing a few "OMG I didn't know I was supposed to register for this!!" comments :D

I think Jake's folding on his personal rig this year. GTX 1080Ti by the look of those points he has been earning.

Anyone heard of using Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud for folding? They both have a free 1 year plan. Microsoft gives you 750 hours (=1 month) of computing, which is perfect, and Google says no mining, which folding isn't. Is it worth trying? Even if it's only CPU, every bit counts, and it's free. Will it even work, or am I missing something?

Anyone else seeing project 14191 tank their PPD on whatever GPU is running it? I've got one on my Titan RTX and it dropped the estimated PPD from 3m+ to 1.7m. Almost cutting the PPD in half seems like that project needs some balancing. Hope I don't get a string of those in a row.

14220 did that for me.

are you sure you pulled the stats at the right time today? My EOC stats show 2.9m on 3rd of October instead of 2.5m listed in the data.

The data they're pulling is not set to the same daily schedule as XOC stats. They're working off British time while XOC runs US Central time.
So instead of pulling the starts for the 24 hour period between midnight - midnight it's pulling 24 hour stats for 6pm - 6pm (or some other time, I can't remember when they pull it).

That's why the XOC stats won't always line up with the stats.

Yes i had one, on the 2080TI, and it tanked all the way down to 1.5M.

Restarting the PC should fix it.

I wonder why I haven't had the download bug yet. Done 100+ work units in the last 2 weeks and haven't had any issues.

Project 14220 does it as well.

yep, and 14220 @catawalks

they're small WU's with low atom counts. that's why. large cards like the TRTX and 2080ti REALLY benefit from huge atom counts in the WU's

So its this project, not server related? Been getting heaps of those 14220's last few days

it's project related. the WU is actually fine and when it runs on my 1080ti it barely makes a difference in PPD, but that WU does not run well on cards with huge shader counts and the diminishing return with it seems to be exponential, as there's a small drop on my 1070ti, a slightly larger drop on my 1080ti and a drop of about half my PPD on my 2080ti

Yeah I drop ~33.33% on PPD with my 2070. Good to know its related to the project and not my pc

I've been having constant issues also. I just check on it throughout the day, so I don't lose too many hours. When I have a problem, I restart, quickly close the client on startup before it actually starts crunching, then delete the work folder, then it usually works fine for most of the day.

It's a pain, and this problem is relatively new for me. No idea what's causing it.

I had Windows and nVidia updates yesterday, and after I installed them it looks like I've lost like 15% of my ppd. I can't even do anything about it until this evening, either.

so tonight is gonna be a bad one.

there's someone sleeping over at my place, and he's sleeping on the couch.

which is right next to all my F@H machines.

so i'm going to have to turn them off for a solid 8-9 hours :(
