Right wing extremism has been linked to many shootings over the last couple years, much of that celebrated on 8chan.  I don't blame any company for dropping them or blacklisting them.

The reality of cloud services is that they aren't public utilities. You are entering into a business partnership with another entity that has its own desires and goals. They have their own idea of what their company should look like and one shouldn't be surprised if they cut ties with a partner that is making them look bad, whether it was on purpose or not. That is the thing about business - you get influenced as much as you influence. 

 

Support selfhost. Support decentralized services. The cloud is somebody else's computer -- make it yours instead.

Wow, what a thread. Whilst i can't personally say i've never visited 8chan, (when i'm following from link to link throughout the web i've ended up in some really weird corners of the web so i may have ended up there), i've never deliberately gone there.

 

That said i only really want to address one part of the mess this thread. Facebook, Youtube, e.t.c. may have bigger moderation teams and auto filters. But doing that costs far more money than the cost of creating and hosting such a site and youtube in particular is notorious for false positives and they've had to engage in a fair bit of pre-emptive banning of content the majority would have no issue with because it's similar enough to somthing that is unacceptable that it the bad cna use the good as a means to hide.

 

So yes in absolute terms places like Facebook, Youtube, e.t.c have more moderation going on. But weather it's more effective is a very subjective judgment. I'm not going to try to provide my own answer as i don't know 8chan remotely well enough to do so. But just because the big names do more doesn't automatically mean they're doing better.

Perhaps, this shit is happening, because you have a generation of young men being raised and taught to hate themselves because of their skin color. Perhaps, they've decided "well if you're going to treat me as a racist regardless of what I do, then maybe I should just start fighting back now".

 

I am not advocating this, I am merely pointing out the underlying cause to all this shit that everyone seems content to ignore. Go on fucking youtube and watch the videos people post, showcasing "teachers" and "professors" basically telling young white men to hate themselves, and telling young white women that dating white males is racist. The evidence is fucking there if you look for it.
