Bored

Ever since I built this PC( its been almost 7 years), I have been getting bored with PC gaming. After I built the PC, I immediately started playing GTA V and Far Cry 5. I completed both withing 2 weeks. But over the last month or so I just sit at the PC and can't seem to play more then 30 minutes. I am currently only really playing WoT and WoWS. No game can hold my attention anymore. I can not even find anything interesting on STEAM during the Summer Sale, I was looking at The Crew 2 , but that even seems like its gonna get boring fast.  Has anyone been in this situation, and if so what got them back?

 

Maybe I should just not get on the PC for a few weeks.

Multiplayer games.  Ark introduced me to some cool folks I game with on the regular.

Gaming doesn't have to be your only hobby. Maybe you still enjoy tech and computers and would find some interest in building your own home lab or learning about new operating systems.

Try Elder scrolls online if you like big rpgs. Ton of different story lines and quests to follow. You can do just about anything you want in the game

Yeah I got bored of gaming too. Used to be the only thing I do. Now I would much rather hangout with friends, bike, and do real world things that aren't an endless waste of time and money.

Ah yes, the time has come that you've grown up.

Seriously, i've hit this a couple times in the past, where i would just endlessly look for stuff to do on  youtube, watch video's, even watch netflix and the likes, anything but game.

In the end it came down to the simple fact that i needed interaction. So for gaming this means i play nearly solely multiplayer games with friends, or that i go out and do stuff. Chores around the house, some woodworking, archery, anything really. It's a matter of finding a balance between all those things for me.

I do stuff other then gaming. I ride my motorcycle, garden, and have 4 kids. 2 With used cars, so I am constantly fixing something. What I mean by bored, is that my time i used to set aside for gaming is just not catching my fancy anymore. As far trying new games, I really don't want to start anything thats more then a year old. Rust looked good, until I read about the horrible community.

 

I also guess it may also be the human nature of wanting something, and then getting it; and seeing it wasn't all that cracked up to be. I mean I am not regretting the new PC, and I know I will eventually get back into.

I'm on the same boat.

Now I'm wondering if I really should even buy a new PC or simply not care about it and move on to a new hobby or something... I haven't really played any games in the past 2 months.... I fired up Starbound recently to try and see if I could get back into it... but I feel like the magic of gaming is gone for me...

Count yourselves lucky, I have a 3 year old son and I look forward to getting 30 mins to game. 

 

I managed a few hours of gaming over the weekend. 

 

Before children I had a great mix of outdoor sports and gaming, I filled 7am to 12pm with a huge variety of stuff.

I was the same way I bought a tv and got bored of watching netflix after a year. Now I play Minecraft in 4k and run a server with my friends. I also play runescape on the side.

I feel the same sometimes, theres only few games that capture my attention for more than an hour or two. Also yeah The Crew is snoozefest.

i played both of those games as well and was bored for a while, even with some battle royals , but i have found that i like  Detroit become human, its a decent game

What games have you put above 50 hours in? Be specific with the titles of the games.

Lets see. BF V, WoT, WoWS, TF 2, GTA V, Far Cry 5, Clas of Clans, Clash Royal........ and about 5 hours of Fortnite( I would rater play E.T. on Atari) . All of this in the past 6 months.I am just taking a break from gaming for a few weeks. Plus theres a few major things I need to do around the house over the next month. It will help keep my boredom from gaming at bay.

In order for games to provide more than 30 minutes of game play you simply have to play them for a couple of hours the first time you play them. Whether you like the game or not, just keep playing. Try to do the same the second time. And before you know it, you'll hit 100 hours in a week. There's a certain point in a game that hooks people. It's usually found in the first 1-5 hours of playing it. Skyrim and The Division got me at 5-6 hours and I hit 40 hours in the next few days in both games. 7 Days to Die got me at the 1-2 hour mark and I hit 80 hours in literally 3 days. I think you just need to try more games you've never played.

 

On a side note, if you beat GTA 5 in 2 weeks, why on earth are you not playing GTA 5 Online? It turns 2 weeks into 2 years, minimum.

Didnt care for GTA V online. And it had run its course in single player. The only game you mentioned that i played, and would like was ARMA3. But isn't the community for that game dying. The other games would not hold my attention. I guess i also just miss the old games like BF 1942 DC mod, CoD MW, .... I did like CoD WWII...  I even reinstalled  Supreme Commander a few months ago, and that brought me back for a little bit. But that too was short lived. I know something soon will come along, and until then i will just settle for mediocre playing of WoT. 

 

Also, maybe the market is to saturated with games.

Oh yea? This could indicate that you don't play certain types of games. What is it about WoT and WoWS that keeps you coming back for more? The attention to detail? The explosions? The playing with friends? What is it exactly?

Sure it gets repetitive over time but that amount of time is literally around the 500 hour mark when you add up all the new DLC. Some DLC is garbage but some DLC is fairly decent. I've put in so many hours, I'm at a point where I'm just earning money through multiple businesses to buy up every vehicle and aircraft in the game. What for? I really don't know. It's like a man and his toys. You buy up everything and utilize it in multiple scenarios.

I definitely watch people play video games more than I play them nowadays. The Achievement Hunter and Lets Play YouTube channels are pretty much all you need in that department. They play pretty much everything and it's been around a decade that they've been doing it. If you've yet to watch them, you pretty much have 10 years worth of video to catch up on. Some series are dull but when you find certain ones that interest you, it's hilarious.
