switching over to ssd

vyyper

So a 2tb HDD has been my main drive for quite a while now and its getting full and slow. So I though t its about time I get an ssd. I'm buying a 480gbs one.

Is there a way I could easily transfer only My OS (win 10) and specific programs to the ssd?

The best way , in my opinion is, doing a clean install. Disconnect the the 2 T HD and install  Windows 10, on the SSD

it's just so much of a hassle to keep transferring my programs, user data...

i agree. But you just need to do it once. After that you can restore from a backup if you need to reinstall.

Copying the old drive is bad idea in my opinion. But there are software that can do it.

If you enjoy having windows issues and random problems in the future then sure, clone or migrate your drive.

It is possible to clone a drive over to an SSD.

The best way is to just back up important data, clean install Windows on the SSD, and format the HDD.
