maybe, but it should have no real affiliation with the LTT org except being made up of some it's members.

I think piracy is essential to certain means.

 

We don't really know how the economy will be structured. So far mining and salvaging seem like the potential big dollar winners in the game outside of potential "quests" or hired missions. Piracy is just a means to create salvage, honestly, so having a pirate group that works with LTTC makes sense to make money. It's crooked as all get up, but it's money.

 

Now that brings in the other side of the argument. It's crooked as all get up. It will be frowned upon. And if there is any relation to the two groups it paints LTTC in a very bad image. Again, comparing it to Eve structure, image can mean a lot. Reputation as well. Just because we'd be popular amongst the overall player base, doesn't mean that the larger corporations will like us. And that's way more potential money lost. Just like in real life, war can create a lot of opportunity for a country, or organization, to thrive afterwards. Spoils of war. But, like in real life, it may make enemies who will never work with us as well as potentially erradicate us.

 

There's too much to contemplate. Less the high council was on board for it, I don't know if any affiliation with LTTC is wise at all. Not even an unofficial one. Because an unofficial group for LTTC is still going to be associated with LTTC. I think an unofficial group is bad.

 

But, I think a trade treaty with a pirate group is a fantastic thing. Make it an actual separate entity. An entirely different organization. And should that organization only do business with LTTC, then so be it. Overall when you look at the details there is zero difference between the two. But when it comes to politics, if we're unaffiliated with that pirate group we're unaffiliated.

 

Just some thoughts. I'm sure there's tons of room for error in my points and I'm looking forward to seeing them brought out.

 

But, s'all good. I'm loyal to the decision of the organization. I want to provide for the company as well as earn protection for missions. Get out of it what I put in. If piracy is the route they'll eventually choose, I'll follow suit. I'm upgrading (Trading in) my Freelancer for a Constellation anyways, so I should be able to fight or salvage or whatever now. My crew has a 300i, 315P and a Hornet. We're down for whatever.

I'm pretty sure they've confirmed that you'll be able to name your ship.

It would be cool if it was printed on the hull afterwards, I don't know if they'll do that though.

I never said that. I am not even going to be stealing anything! I am much more interested exploration. I just don't want some idiot to steal a bunch of crap from Imperium, and start a huge war. With the LTT Piracy Organization, they could  steal all they want, but they would not be part of the LTT conglomerate, and we could deny having anything to do with it, because we wouldn't.

What about a diplomatic group which works under LTT? There's a lot of hand shaking that went on with EVE, and I think it's fair to base the potential depth of SC to that. The idea would seem fitted to... A business firms sales team. Public relations, cleaning up messes from organization members, which will happen, as well as introductionary meetings for new trade routes or battle strategies. I guess the idea would be to serve more as a, as stated above, a public relations team to help the council. Then again, it would take a lot of trust and time to pick out who would represent the company on a small scale. But as an organization it's kind of like a business. Messenger is just a messenger. Wine and dine, then the "client" actually meets a council member.

Just running with ideas, lol. If organizations as large as LTT come out, it could easily start a pretty large war. Eventually I imagine there will be some groups or sub groups inside of organizations which exist purely for stealing/piracy. Be nice to not make enemies that might give and take a lot of collateral damage to the organizations.

Any thoughts?

I see all this talk of Piracy. Personally im going to run as a pirate. My idea is that I will steal off other pirates though... Hehehe.

Why should I do all the work when I can let some other guys grab the loot. Depending on the situation the enemy would most likely take some damage, leave the target helpless and then try to escape...and thats where I come in.

Swoop in, finish off the already wary pirates and take their targets and the pirates loot. MWHAHAHAHA.

and then claim it to be anti-piracy mercenary work contracted out by LTT Conglomerate to keep the rest of the organizations personnel safe from piracy....

Didn't even realize there was a LTT forums until I was looking at youtube videos and happened across all of this. Been a fan of his since a long time ago when he was still doing unboxings for ncix.

 

Haven't even looked at other star citizen groups, might as well just join this one probably. Already got myself a aurora LX, 350r and a cutlass all with LTI waiting to go. I just hope by the time the game is closer to release I have enough money to do a proper upgrade to my system (although all I need is new GPU's really).

Just melted down my Freelancer. Copped me a Constellation. Bamasis. So I got a crew of 3 more, each with their own fighters who're gonna roll with me.

 

And that made me feel extra safe with my investment, regardless of insurance. But... It got me thinking. I will have the ability to provide my own escort on LTTC missions or missions for the swarm.

 

But what about those who don't? 

 

They might have... A Cutlass. Not the best fighter, but a fantastic cargo ship. And they're typically a solo flier. And they're carrying some decent cargo and want to either hire or ask for an escort from LTTC. Is it just first come first serve who wants to escort them? Or will this be handled by our own military group? Or is there no current structure at all, and that'll be decided later on?

 

Just imagining someone running around alone, then all of a sudden a pirate group comes out. You know they're gonna be relentless. But that Cutlass will be able to outrun them for a long, long time. It'd be pretty dope to all of a sudden see, like.. 5 LTTC police Hornets do a fly by, like Maverick, and the pirates spill hot coffee on their laps. You know that sounds cool. Cause you know if you're reading this, you want to be Maverick. Everyone wants to be Maverick. Not Kilmer. Kilmer was a jerk. With a super hard core P90X body. But still a jerk.

I just wish we had more info about the thrust systems, it's all fine to say the cutlass has 16 tier 2 manuvering thrusters, but what does that mean in thrust per ton, clearly it will have better thrust than a freelancer that has 8, but with a bigger power plant on the freelancer, will that play a role there? also does the bigger plat affect the tonnage or is that already accounted for? these are the questions that haunt me, well that and why does my freelancer have so many beds.
