Okay, I'm new and just applied to join up. I have an Aurora and alpha access. Since I'm in the UK, are there a lot of other members around my timezone in the evenings?

The Ghost looks nice, I wouldn't mind buying the constellation when I play, people will join my ship, Im not sure about NPCs gunning and piloting other ships of mine, obviously not as strong as humans (unless they suck).

How do you buy LTI? I know it was limited but can we buy it after our 6 month insurance ends? And if you ship blows up after, what happens ?

LTI is no longer available since November 2013. The only thing to obtain it, is to buy/receive ships from those who have them.

If you have no insurance, your ship will be gone if it blows up. You have to pay for it monthly (supposedly), but it won't be so expensive that all of your credits will go to insurance.

Wooo I'm now official!........ Just need to wait for Pax east for the dog fighting modal to stat playing........  Do we/will we have an official team speak/Razor comms or something for chats? Are we gonna do some form of online chat meetup or planning before release?

You can still get LTI if you buy the $5000+ packages. And as to insurance running out you can renew it in game.

Well, depending on how much money you have and what you want to do in the game is really important in purchasing a ship.  I had my hands on a 300i for a little bit then upgraded to the Avenger for the better weapons and it just being plain better in everything others than speed of course.

Well, I kept fussing over what to change about my ship, was going to trade my avenger in and get a 325a.....but When I ended up doing was taking the £100 credit for both my ships and buying two alpha access packages Gave one to a friend and kept the other for myself. so I now have a Aurora LN now, which I will keep as it has missile hard points, but I still want the 325a so i'll get that with my next paycheck

If you wanted to go his route of getting a Aurora LN or a 325a is not a bad bet.  There Aurora LN is the cheapest ship package I would buy only because the Aurora ES(regular one) has too little upgrades and I wanted to help more.  The legionnaire(that is what LN stands for) is a strong and versatile ship for new pilots to "take off" yet it is only that.  Don't expect to hang on to it and go on your merry way and winning every battle you engage in.  It is a good ship, don't get me wrong but all I am saying is that you will out grow it faster than most ships yet the price then seems compelling.  It is all up to you.  

 

The 325a is a soldier's ship.  If you want the greatest speeds and maneuverability this is for you.  With the added guns compared to the 300i this is a beast.  With all your hardpoints full and a weapons systems pre-installed this is a more expensive buy but a better one too.  If you are fine with paying a little less than twice the amount of the Aurora LN than why not?  This is really good for if you decide to join the LTT military.  That was the only reason I bought a 300i.  

 

Yet I exchanged it for something better, the Avenger.  It is better than the 300 series in most ways.  It is a slower ship with the fire power to take and 300 series ship.  This is a very versatile ship and has upgrade paths to cater to any taster.  I put my money in to the Avenger and this is a really good ship for the price.

 

Now moving on into the more than $100(I live in the US).  The Hornet is the only dogfighting ship available as of right now and a safe bet for the future.  It has the potential to do many things such as dog fight as well as track others and be a stealthy motherfluker.  It has the combat abilities to take on any ship below it and some ships above it depends on your skill(I am sure you will be good).  If you are fine with paying a lot of money then this may be the best buy you can get right now.  Most other ships in this price range are mostly geared at hulling cargo, a route you prefer not to take I am assuming.  Finally, you must remember that not all the ships have been released and there will be more coming but if you insist, like me and everyone else in this section of the forum, on buying a ship then do it.  The Constellation is a big buy and I too will take the path you want and buy it in the game.

Avenger,           Seems the best all around for that price range but little # of upgrades, some light piracy and capable of some serious firepower to engage, bounty hunting/mercenary?, cargo as large as cutlass, my top choice, cheaper pirate ship? No sleeping quarters.

 

Ghost,               If I have enough balls to spend that much more, I like stealthy stuff but with the low power and everything it will be hard to keep a balance of stealth and power, or a quick "assassination" if you would.

I just thought of something; we could have multiple ghosts that could be used to scout groups of ships without being detected, as well as ambush escorts or possibly bait ships into traps! Could we have a "Scout" group? Just wondering

If, when playing, LTT Conglomerate members are on and want to catch a ride, that would be much better, I have no friends who play PC   and most of the time I lone wolf it, which I DO NOT want to do in Star citizen. So with no PC friends I usually opt for single player stuff or in this case single seat ships, but that may change.

 

EDIT: just read a thread with peeps and their ghosts with their mass drivers and discussing heat and such, the ghost will be considered more for me because they have got a great discussion going on.

You need to buy the game to join. You just write anything, anyone will be accepted.

ATM @looney is graciously hosting a server for us, though, we do plan on arranging something more permanent in the future, stay tuned to the thread for updates and for general SC chat!

That sounds like a great idea. The third largest  Organization should have something more official than just a forum post! Everything would be a bit neater than it is now, which is very good.

Ehh I was thinking a mix of everything. Military stuff, escorting, protecting, and assisting cargo hauls as mercenaries for someone or a just cruising with a Constellation. Some bounty hunting with some LTT members. 

 

I don't really understand piracy too much, I mean, I know the general idea but what can you do and not do? Read the star citizen wiki but not much.

I hate discovering things too late...

If anyone has their heart set on wanting LTI this is the Reddit Thread to purchase your ships with LTI. There are also some ships not available for purchase at RSI. Please keep in mind that as this game gets closer to additional milestones in its development there will be more sales and more ships available at RSI. If you really MUST have LTI I suggest doing business with Kane. His prices (compared to the other sellers) and integrity are great. I have done business with him for a Digital Freelancer Package with LTI. There are a few other very reputable and honest guys there but I have not done business with them. You will pay extra for LTI on these ships and the non-LTI ships are cheaper than the RSI store on there. *Use at your own risk.* These ships aren't going anywhere. Patience pays off and can save you some $$$$$!
