Why does "Linus Tech Tips" show up as a monetization option when I upload videos?

When I upload videos to YouTube, in the monetization settings, under "usage policy", I get "Linus Tech Tips" as a pulldown option.  What does that mean?  I thought it may have been a temporary glitch, but it's still occurring today.

I tried, but even though it says my channel is eligible for monetisation when I try to enable it it says I need 1k subscribers (I have like, 8). So unless 992 of you want to subscribe to my dead youtube channel, someone else will need to test this one :D

Honestly I'm not seeing the reason why someone would fake this. Looked at OPs channel, it's mostly a personal vlog channel. Just not seeing the motive to fake it here.

It is indeed a 12mm lens.  It allows me to make videos without having to back the chair several feet from the table and I can have the mic stand connected to the table as well.  My 35mm lens offers the best appearance, with a nice bokeh, but it's a major pain to try to have the mic not in view and still be close enough to have the DJ sound.  I hate having the mic in the view of the camera.

Just wanted to say thanks for the critique, I've been using the 35mm lens since you mentioned it, and I figured out a way to get the mic to work out as well.

The options have been strange for a while, but once "Linus Tech Tips" showed up, I just had to scratch my head.  I'm just thankful it's still giving me the option for "track in all countries", since with a large percentage of my videos, if I *tried* to monetize them, they would be demonetized pretty quickly, as I swear a lot and mention subjects that are a no-no to advertisers.

I may do that for a test video at some point.  I just know that, in the past, if I select the wrong option, *nobody* can see my video.  I've stuck with either "monetize in all countries" or "track in all countries".  I've never understood why they don't just have a simple "do not monetize".

 

I just uploaded a video using the 35mm lens, and set the monetization option for "Linus Tech Tips".  We'll see how that goes.

Right click inspect element, type Linus Tech Tips, make video, profit from posts online

Looks more legit as the page was loaded fresh. Could be one of your browser extensions changing the words to it. Try in another browser without any extensions

Your face looks a lot more natural in that video with the 35mm lens, less distortion from the lens. If you can get the 35mm to work with your mic and other gear I think it makes a pretty significant improvement, especially if your videos are mostly you facing and speaking towards the camera. Does look to be a stronger bokeh effect going on with the 35mm lens as you mentioned in the video, not sure if that's something that you want or not but to me it looks fine as long as it can keep focus on your face.

Honestly though, do whatever works for you and what works for your recording set up. I'm not your target audience so don't put too much weight in to what I think. Maybe try it for a few videos and see what your regular viewers think?
