Does anyone still have disc drives in their pcs?

BlockedTheShot

I happen to have a blu ray. But i never used the actual blu ray functionality. I just use to install old games or play movies that don't exist on digital marketplaces.

Damn....

Not in my desktop.

My laptop has a BD/CD/DVD drive, though. I use it somewhat often, and the Bluray functionality is nice to have even if I've never used it.

No CD drives in the house including laptops.

My X79 office PC has a BD burner, but I'm replacing that soon.

My HTPC has 2 ODD's, 1 Blu Ray M-Disc everything and an older CD DVD...only cause it had the slots lol...Ive literally only played 1 blu ray when I set up Leawo (free) to play blu rays...it has a purpose though - when the internet goes out and my kids are watching a movie LOLOL.  I put the second one in because I have 4 in the parts pile and needed to reduce its footprint LOL.  Its actually not plugged into a motherboard sata header yet...have a sata 1/II card coming in so I can at least use it if I want

Used mine to watch LOTR recently. When I built my first PC it was considered super practical, but nowadays there's a ton less physical media.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

My current system has a DVD Writer with Lightscribe.  I've used it on/off in the past two years, mostly for old retro games, or burning CDs and DVDs for my vintage computers.

I have an external uhd player plugged into my main computer. I use it to rip Blu Ray and uhd blurays.  Then send them to my unraid machine.  Until this past black Friday I haven't had an optical drive since my old core 2 duo machine. Got rid of that 5 or 6 years ago.

I have one in my main computer. I use it if I want to watch DVDs on my computer and for my CDs.

What is actually supposed to go here? Some people put their specs, others put random comments or remarks about themselves or others, and there are a few who put cryptic statements.

I'll be using ODDs (Optical Disc Drives) for years to come. I get the vast majority of my music and all my videos from CDs, DVDs, and, recently, BDs.

Hell yeah! I'll be putting a BluRay writer in my new PC when I eventually build it. Why? Because physical media is not dead, bit rate on physical media (BluRay especially) is way better than any streaming service, and because I have a load of DVD's and BluRay's I like to watch ._.

I'm no fancy pants bitrate or compression noticing fella. I used my disk drive once since 2015 trying to run fifa 2002 and that's it. It's kind of like a headphone jack for me; cool for those who care, but since there are better technologies I don't use it anymore

I actually looked specifically for a laptop with a Blu Ray player back in 2012 which I still use. Other than that I have an external BR drive as well, if that counts. I vividly remember plugging it into a USB hub for the first time (the thing is powered by two USB connectors) and it shorting out the entire hub in one fell swoop.

I have one in my PC, use it for the purpose of Music. A lot of music I get is from CDs due to it being

1: Cheaper

2: Has backups

3: Often times aren't on digital marketplaces

4: Sound Quality

5: Physical Media just looks cool don't judge me

Who needs fancy graphics and high resolutions when you can get a 60 FPS frame rate on iGPUs?
