Intel names Bob Swan CEO

Title says it all, really. From Intel's Press Release.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 31, 2019 – Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) today announced that its board of directors has named Robert (Bob) Swan as chief executive officer. Swan, 58, who has been serving as Intel’s interim CEO for seven months and as chief financial officer since 2016, is the seventh CEO in Intel’s 50-year history. Swan has also been elected to Intel’s board of directors.

Todd Underwood, vice president of Finance and director of Intel’s Corporate Planning and Reporting, will assume the role of interim chief financial officer as the company undertakes an internal and external search for a permanent CFO.

So, after the board bounced the last CEO because of a lot of reasons, Intel has a new CEO. Mr. Swan had been the interim CEO in the transition period, having said he didn't want the permanent role.

 

My Thoughts:

 

This isn't too surprising. Intel had been making a lot of big moves, especially with regards to 10nm & 7nm Fabs, that an interim CEO normally wouldn't make. So it meant either Swan was taking the full time position or someone else was already selected several months ago. Reality is there were probably very few that could handle the job that wanted it. Intel has massive revenue but a lot of problems to deal with. This doesn't mean we'll see 10nm Desktop parts before 2021, but Intel doesn't even seem exactly sure what they're doing for Desktop there, either.

I don't even remember the previous Intel CEO, I'm sure I'll forget all about this guy in 5 minutes.

shit that means intel would already have mass core and chiplet design cause they needed a friend

Bob Swan is an incredibly generic name for a person.

They didn't want the job.


Because it does look pretty bad for Intel. Without 10nm in masses soon (wich I doubt will happen this year).

Without that they are at a serious disadvantage...

Yeah, they got some real competition for the first time in like 20 Years. Of course they don't know what to do ;)

 

And the preassure right now is far higher than it was in the Past with the K7 and even K8 as well, because Cores and Performance/Watt are on a whole new level for Rome...

I remember him, I don't even have to look up Brian Matthew Krzanich (born May 9, 1960)

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch
