Few months back my dog died, thought that getting another one will be way later or never, but somehow I ended up with this one :

she's a french shepherd dog, gonna be a big one and feisty too :D The dog I had before was way more tame, even as a pup.

LOL! I put innocent in quotations because of what you said about her being feisty. I've also seen that look on dogs who got caught misbehaving. That doesn't chage that she is cute as a button and the fiestiness is just a training issue that can usually be dealt with with correct training (albeit more work). She looks like she could be a real winner!

Took Olivia to the Zoo on Christmas eve. Was interesting to see how she reacted to all the different animals, or rather, how the animals reacted to her. Normally most animals remain sleeping or resting, regardless of how many people are watching. They're used to that after all. But bring a dog with you and "hey, what's that???" lol. 

 

The Giraffes were pretty hilarious as they stopped, walked closer, then bent down and stretched out toward us to get a closer look at Olivia. They were like, "Well hello, and what are you?". Meanwhile Olivia remained calm and sat there quietly, probably thinking, "holy hell, what is that!!??" lol.  

 

The wolves took a very deep interest in her as they all came out to check her out. The entire pack emerged and approached the fence. Olivia? she couldn't care less. To her, they were just "other dogs" in a penned area, which she'd been trained to ignore, just like at the dog park in town. The wolves followed us all the way around their paddock, watching her like hawks. 

 

Then there was the Hyena. Normally he stays in his shelter an rarely comes out. Well, he saw us coming with Olivia from way down the path and was very curious. The two got a good look at each other through the glass for quite some time. I think Olivia just thought he was another dog, and the Hyena was probably looking at Olivia as a meal, lol.

I'm surprised they allowed Olivia into the zoo. I would have loved to have seen those interactions.

She is now registered as an ESA service dog (for my wife). So she's allowed to go pretty much anywhere. 

 

There are a few areas of the zoo where service dogs are not allowed to go, mainly pavilions where birds and other animals are able to approach visitors without any sort of barrier. But 98% of it, she can go through.

 

Forgot to mention, the Gorillas were also very interested, coming right up to the glass to check her out. The baby we have at the Toronto Zoo, Charlie, was especially intrigued. :)

She's in Season right now, she becoming a woman.

 

We're booking her spaying soon :(  

 

She has gotten sooo much more people conscious since I've been playing on the floor with her etc... she now comes to sit with me on the floor, and cuddle up to my side, brings me things she wants holding for her, like bones etc. My favourite though is when she "hugs" me (puts both forelegs either side of my head), and if I'm sitting down at the time, she sits in my lap, and I cuddle her while she either tries to get my ears, lick my face... or the funniest one, tried to put her tongue in my mouth. Yeah I don't like the last one, but it is funny though... and I call her a perv ?

 

 

Hope you're all having a good year so far, and hopefully everyone will have a great new year... and more importantly that our beloved pets that are our family too, will have good health and enjoy themselves :)

Yep, they're both funny and not funny at the same time. I do love her, just not in that way! ?

 

Oh yeah, just remembered a funny thing that happened, I got a call from an unknown number, so let it ring... and Dinky usually runs up to the phone when we get a call, and then looks at you as if to say "hey hooman! this thing shouting at you again!"  - anyway, so she did that this time too, but as I just let it ring, she started to do a howl-y type bark that she's never done before. Man that was funny to hear... so I told my brother about this when he came home, so we tested it to see if she'd do it again.. and yep, she did! She only does it if you let it ring/or not approach it though, if it looks like you've taken notice of it, or approach then she just tilts her head. I will have to try and get it on audio or video.
