We just welcomed a new member to the pack today! Her name is Aurora (Alaskan Malamute); she's 3 years-old and we adopted her from our local humane society (animal shelter), where she spent the last 3 months.

@Founders  Well done, I wish more people adopted.

I am seriously considering it right now myself. Just waiting to get Dink more trained first, so she's not a pest to the poor bugger when we adopt ?

Thank you! Adoption is the absolute best way to go. We adopted our husky (currently 8 years-old) from the same shelter. She’s very friendly but she has so much energy (as expected) that my husky is a bit overwhelmed at times. Thankfully we have a large fenced in backyard so she can run around and play.

Thanks! There’ll be an adjustment period anytime a new pet is adopted but it’s well worth it. I wish more people adopted too, sadly this is the worst time of year for an older pet in need. Everyone wants to get a puppy or a kitten and many end up at a pound after the holidays. Why anyone would go to a ‘breeder’ is beyond me. I’m not saying all breeders are irresponsible, but the bad outweigh the good, sadly.

We ended up getting Dink from a breeder, but my mum has this weird notion about dogs for adoption, and as she's living with us, and she's not very confident with dogs.. we decided to not adopt at the time. She gets antsy even when dogs are just playing together :(

She LOVED Henry, but he was a special case, and was so gentle and loving etc. Mum is 85 now, and has these weird ideas about things unfortunately.

Here's a pic of her with Dink I took today.

And here's a great one of Dink, you can see her scar clearly here

This is the official photo album of Jessie and Jabba, they are two cute Appenzeller Princesses.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

Dog.exe has encountered an unexpected error. It's like she forgot she was laying down halfway through laying down or her butt just didn't get the message. She was like this for about 5 minutes, I petted her, pushed her gently to see if she'd lay, asked her if everything was ok, she was just chillin like this. Weird dog.

Since Moses' passing, these two have really warmed up to each other. :) Gideon used to not have much tolerance for the "big dogs" getting in his space, but now he loves being Olivia's cuddle buddy.

This is our Poppy. A 3something year old English Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross (crossed with American Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Greyhound!).

She is a beautiful soul, with a lot of excitement.

She came from a rescue place near by to where we live. Prior to coming to us just over 2 years ago, she had had 2 failed rehoming attempts, and 3 prior homes before that.

She came to us with some behavioural problems, mainly the excitement and a propensity to use her teeth at times, especially when over excited. As she has settled the excitement has settled down to being in bursts and we've worked on ways to contain her excitement and stop her getting too hyper and reverting back to using her teeth. Patience and perseverance has paid off though.

She's gorgeous :D

Yeah, we have had over-excitement problems with Dinky too... she has got loads better as I spend more time on the floor with her. She also now comes to me and lays with me, whereas before she would move away most of the time as she was too hot we think. She loves the cool floor still, but she will come to us sometimes and lay against us, which she would not do before. She's also taking more direction from us as I've been working with her on it a lot... she still loves to play most of the time, but that's expected as she's a puppy now coming up to 10 months old after xmas, and I wouldn't want to change that anyway :D

She enjoys barking immensely ?  - She'll listen to me if I tell her quiet/stop/enough in a calm but firm voice mostly. But the rest of my family she'll ignore pretty much, which can be frustrating for everyone, but they don't like my advice on the matter as usual, LOL - they will however come to get me and ask me to get the dog in/stop her barking etc.

Dink has come along in leaps and bounds the last few weeks to a month. A lot better behaved over-all, she's having some quiet time/nap in the evening now without much or any prompting now too.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.

One has to be proactive, not reactive, to ensure the safety of one's data so backup your data! And RAID is NOT a backup!

I think it mush have been the closeness of her + camera angle that made her look bigger... here's a pic that shows her true size a bit better :D

Easy. Dogs like soft spots to lay down so I looked at the sofa first. Bingo!

Not-So-Dinky still has some growing to do. She still has that puppy cuteness (not that she won't still be cute when she grows up).

Happy Birthday Jaba !!! You're turning 2 today ????

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.
