sad news - i'm going to have to put the jank-o-tron on hold due to covid19 shutting down retailers i was planning to scavenge for parts

also, the 295x2 is still overheating after 10 minutes of running full power

Just throw the rad out the window, OR, add a bigger rad, throw in a T in the line and refilling is actually quite easy.

Just joined the forum, to join the folding team. The old rig is chugging along slowly (an old i5 with an Rx560 ) but if it wasn't doing anything anyway it might as well help. The newer rig (Ryzen3 2200 with RX 5700) should do a fair bit better. I'm still waiting on a passkey though, it has been a few hours. I take it I use the same passkey on both machines?

will continue folding anonymously until then

I was only receiving work units for GPU as well, until i removed my CPU from the (advanced control/configure/slots ) list and added it back in.  On a separate system I couldn't the CPU to accept work orders until I changed from an odd number count (15/16 core) to an even number (14, 12, etc).  I don't know if that was directly the cause, but they sat doing nothing for hours regardless of pausing or any other intervention.

I have been waiting for a few hours for the main rig to fire up... tried pausing a few times but nope...still waiting for work order. Then I saw this post and tried it, BINGO! up and running on the cpu. GPU not being used though, might try removing and re-adding that too?

Welp, there go my plans of using a 2080 and a Pascal titan in the same waterloop. The terminals on the blocks are misaligned by mere millimeters.. :(

It would have looked pretty slick tough. Guess I'll have to get a second 2080 now.

When I first installed the client Sunday night, it seemed to be primarily using my GPU (RTX 2060) but then wasn't doing anything all day.  Finally, I tried to uninstall the client (intending to reinstall it) but the uninstall froze.  But after I rebooted, it started working so I didn't try to uninstall it (though I am not crazy about software that avoids being uninstalled, lol).  When I got up this morning, I rebooted again and this time was only using my CPU (i9-9900K).  But now it's idle waiting for more work I guess.  I also installed the client on an Asus prebuilt I bought at Best Buy in 2017.  It has an i7-7700 with integrated graphics.  Near as I can tell, the Asus hasn't done any folding, but it's hard to tell since the stats seem aggregated because I used the same identity.

Is it worth leaving the i7-7700 running or is that not just powerful enough without a discrete GPU?  Does anyone know LTT is coming with setting up their own folding@home server?  Thanks.

I just came on this forum 2 days ago specifically to assist with COVID-19. I only have my CPU running though at Light Power. I wish I had a spare computer to do this so I can put it up on max.
